Chapter 30 : Generosity

Accidentally Choosing the Strongest Alpha in the Galaxy on a Blind Date

Lin Jing suspiciously eyed Ander who was nervously avoiding his gaze.

No matter how he looked at it, it seemed odd.

He knew this subordinate well enough to recognize the signs of guilt and wrongdoing.

For the usually composed Ander to show such an expression…

Lin Jing’s eyes were deep as he looked at the closed door.

“Is Major Jiang inside? With Mr. Ji?”

Ander was on the verge of tears.

What could he do?

He could only nod slightly and step aside, intending to explain.

Lin Jing raised his hand to stop him, speaking calmly, “It’s not a big deal. Why are you so nervous?”

Even if he didn’t trust Major General Jiang, he trusted Ji Anli to know his boundaries.

The two clearly knew each other and it was just a small reunion after a long time apart.

He wasn’t petty enough to get upset over something like this.

Ander let out a big sigh of relief.

He knew it. The boss wasn’t that narrow-minded.

Besides, Major General Jiang had transitioned from an Omega to an Alpha so there was definitely no romantic basis beyond pure brotherhood.

Ander, now relaxed, followed Lin Jing with a smile.

He watched as the boss raised his hand and knocked on the door with his knuckles.

“May I come in?”

When they heard Ji Anli’s voice inviting them in, both Lin Jing and Ander paused.

Although they knew nothing was amiss, why did Ji Anli’s voice sound a bit off?

As the door opened, Ander dared to sneak a peek and was instantly relieved.

Everything was just as it was when he left earlier.

They were sitting on opposite sides of the table with a large table between them.

But on second glance, Ander stood up straight.

Mr. Ji’s face was flushed, his eyes bright and he was excitedly staring at Major General Jiang… which was reasonable, right?

After all, they hadn’t seen each other in two years.

Ander couldn’t even convince himself with his own comforting thoughts.

He didn’t dare look at the boss’s expression and quietly retreated, thoughtfully closing the door behind him

Lin Jing’s eyes were deep and calm as he walked over to sit beside Ji Anli, looking at Major General Jiang across from them.

When he and Ji Anli first arrived, although the other party had only said a few words, Lin Jing could piece together some information based on the events that happened on the Capital Star two years ago and the other party’s identity.

This person should be from a small branch of the Jiang family that split off from the Capital Star to Planet A two years ago.

The Jiang, Wen, and Ji families lived close to each other so it wasn’t hard to guess that Ji Anli and Jiang Jun had known each other since childhood.

But… what did the two of them just talk about?

Ji Anli was clearly very emotional at the moment, even excited.

Lin Jing was familiar with this look. It was the same look Ji Anli had whenever he saw Lin Jing’s second form, even if he tried to restrain it.

Ji Anli was indeed excited. He never expected that his only friend from childhood also had a second form and it was a species he had never seen before!

Just before Lin Jing returned, Jiang Jun, knowing that Ji Anli was not only unopposed to second forms but had even decided to marry Lin Jing because of his second form, offered to show Ji Anli his own second form when there was a chance.

Ji Anli had just learned what Jiang Jun’s second form was and was too excited to say anything before Lin Jing knocked on the door.

Jiang Jun didn’t wait for Lin Jing to speak and stood up at the right moment, “General Lin, is there a problem with His Highness? Do I need to go and take over now?”

If there wasn’t an issue, Lin Jing wouldn’t have returned at this time.

Although this was a private castle with good security, just in case, someone still needed to guard the old duke.

Lin Jing responded, “Major General Jiang, please go ahead. I came back to change clothes.”

Jiang Jun had smelled blood on Lin Jing since he appeared but since he didn’t know if it involved the old duke’s privacy, he didn’t ask.

Now that Lin Jing mentioned it, Jiang Jun agreed and winked at Ji Anli, “Think it over. If you need, I’m available anytime.”

Lin Jing listened to Jiang Jun’s words quietly, showing no other emotions on his face.

Instead, Ji Anli had already turned his gaze to Lin Jing since he started speaking.

Being so close, Ji Anli sniffed the air, his expression serious, not even hearing what Jiang Jun said, and instinctively replied, “Okay”

Sensing Ji Anli’s change in mood, Lin Jing patted his shoulder to reassure him not to worry.

Jiang Jun observed their interaction, lowered his eyes and turned to leave.

His feelings were complicated. He was genuinely happy that Ji Anli had found a suitable partner with mutual affection yet he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sourness in his heart.

As soon as Jiang Jun left, Ji Anli frowned at Lin Jing, “What’s going on? Are you hurt? Why do I smell blood? Or did your wound reopen?”

Although he was happy to reunite with an old friend, he hadn’t forgotten the purpose of this trip. He worried that it might be a death journey for Lin Jing and the old duke.

Especially since Lin Jing had just left not long ago and now returned with the scent of blood all over him, something definitely seemed off

Lin Jing reassured, “Don’t worry, this isn’t my blood and my wound hasn’t reopened.”

As he spoke, the tension around him eased. His eyes softened with tenderness, taking in Ji Anli’s concern.

The strange tension that had been gripping his heart vanished and even he didn’t notice the slight upward curve of his lips.

Ji Anli felt a bit relieved upon hearing this but his heart was still uneasy.

“Did something happen? Did someone get hurt?” How did blood end up on him?

Over time, he had come to understand Lin Jing.

This man was highly vigilant and it was hard for anyone to get close to him, let alone get him covered in blood.

Lin Jing explained, “Nothing happened but someone did get hurt. However, it wasn’t a recent injury. It happened a few days ago. The blood belongs to a young man who might be the old Duke’s offspring.”

Ji Anli was even more surprised.

“He was injured when they found him? Why didn’t anyone mention it before?”

Lin Jing quickly explained the news they had just received.

The military had kept it under wraps, considering the old Duke’s health.

He had been searching for his son for many years and his health had deteriorated over the past two years.

With his condition worsening, they reported finding a young man named Yiya who was suspected to be the Duke’s son. But they didn’t disclose how they found him or his current health status, fearing it might shock the Duke too much.

Originally, they planned to verify Yiya’s bloodline with the Duke’s in two days.

During this time, they hoped to treat Yiya so that his condition would improve before meeting the Duke.

Of course, if the results were negative, there would be no need for a meeting.

However, once the Duke arrived at the castle and regained consciousness, he insisted on seeing Yiya immediately, disregarding his own health.

With no other choice, they arranged the meeting.

To be safe, they replaced Major General Jiang with General Lin to protect the Duke but things still went wrong.

Lin Jing explained, “The young man hasn’t had it easy over the years. When they found him, he was already severely traumatized and with his mental state he could erupt at any moment.

Being an S-class healer, it’s even harder to stabilize and treat him when he’s out of control. His psychic state is unstable and he’s terrified of strangers, prone to harming himself and others. He has many self-inflicted wounds.

The Duke only learned of his condition when they were almost at his residence. Already emotional, when he saw the young man, the Duke hadn’t even reacted before the young man went berserk…”

Since the young man’s actions were involuntary due to trauma, Lin Jing as the Duke’s guard, couldn’t intervene, focusing instead on the Duke’s safety.

The Duke, recognizing Yiya’s face, was already half-convinced.

In his excitement, he tried to comfort the child he had searched for many years, resulting in chaos.

Ji Anli was on edge hearing this.

“What about now?”

Lin Jing said, “When I was taking the old Duke away, his blood got on my sleeve. The old Duke was also greatly shocked and fainted. The other party was sedated.

Because the bloodstains might affect the old Duke’s emotions, I came back to change clothes while they were being treated.”

Ji Anli understood, feeling complicated, wondering if he was overthinking.

Although Lin Jing didn’t say much, it seemed he wasn’t doing well and was under stress.

Rescuing him must not have been easy and since they could notify the old Duke to verify, there was probably a seventy to eighty percent chance of certainty.

So, was he really overthinking?

Did the old Duke pass away in his past life because he knew his child had suffered so much over the years, worsening his condition?

Ji Anli looked up at Lin Jing, “Did you come back for something else? Does the person in charge here know I came with you and want to ask you to let me take a look at this Prince Yiya?”

The stronger a healer’s healing power, the stronger their psychic strength.

If it’s another type of injury, it’s fine. But if it’s a mental stimulus, an ordinary or same-level healer can’t suppress it so a higher-level healer is needed.

Ji Anli happened to be a suitable candidate for this.

Lin Jing responded, “You can think about it. If you don’t want to go, it’s okay. Once the results are out, we’ll immediately head back to the capital star and someone will come to treat him then.”

This wasn’t Ji Anli’s responsibility.

Just because he was a healer didn’t mean he should be required to use a large amount of healing power to save someone.

Plus, Yiya’s condition couldn’t be cured with just one or two healing sessions so waiting a few days wouldn’t make much difference, just temporarily preventing him from going mad.

So, although the person in charge mentioned it, Lin Jing didn’t agree right away but wanted to ask Ji Anli’s opinion first.

Ji Anli knew Lin Jing was considering his feelings but Yiya wasn’t yet the so-called benefactor of Ji Chenhao nor was he an enemy.

Moreover, Yiya was his cousin and a victim back then.

He couldn’t just watch him go mad and hurt others and himself.

Ji Anli quickly made a decision, “I’ll go with you later to take a look but Yiya doesn’t let anyone get close. Can I approach him?”

Lin Jing thought for a moment, “He’s been sedated so he shouldn’t wake up too soon.”

Ji Anli urged, “Then change your clothes and I’ll go with you later.”

Before returning to the capital star, even though it seemed he might be overthinking, he couldn’t let his guard down.

Any step could change the course of events.

It might also be possible that Yiya’s frequent outburst disrupted the defenses, allowing someone to sneak into the castle.

So, no matter what, they needed to suppress his outburst first.

Lin Jing only had blood on his sleeve and needed to change his top.

He found a top of the same color and noticed something was off when he unbuckled his outer belt.

Sure enough. He saw Ji Anli staring in his direction, seemingly lost in thought, hesitating to say something

Lin Jing lowered his eyes, turned around quietly and changed his clothes.

Only after fastening the last button, did he tie his outer belt and turn back.

Ji Anli was still in a daze, not even glancing his way.

This treatment was clearly the opposite of when he was in his second form.

It was only when Lin Jing walked up to him that Ji Anli snapped out of it, coughing lightly, “Sorry, I was thinking about something. Are you done changing?”

Lin Jing nodded, “Do you have something to tell me?”

Ji Anli thought for a moment and decided to ask Lin Jing first.

After all, although they were partners through an arranged marriage, they were also legally recognized partners.

He had nothing with Jiang Jun but he still needed to seek his partner’s opinion, “There’s something. Ahem. it’s like this. You know Jiang Jun, the one just now. We grew up together as good friends, really close.”

Lin Jing raised an eyebrow, “So?”

Ji Anli continued, “He used to be an Omega but later differentiated into an Alpha. If he were still an Omega, I wouldn’t even ask you, but since we’re partners…

He knows I’m curious about his second form and said he’d show me if there’s a chance. Do you agree to let me see it?”

As he said this, Ji Anli couldn’t help but let his eyes sparkle.

Lin Jing was all too familiar with this look. it was exactly what he saw when he first came in.

Lin Jing lowered his eyes, neither agreeing nor disagreeing, instead asking, “Is someone else’s second form that impressive?”

Ji Anli immediately shook his head vigorously, “No, no matter how impressive, it can’t be better than General Lin’s second form.”

That fluffy, soft texture was unmatched.

Lin Jing replied, “If that’s the case, why insist on seeing it?”

Ji Anli’s eyes shone even brighter, “But it’s a peacock! A white peacock! Jiang Jun said he’d display his feathers for me!” Who could resist that?

A pure white peacock with no blemishes!

And it was his childhood best friend who said he’d show him his second form from every angle and even display his feathers just for him to see!

Who wouldn’t be tempted to nod in agreement?

But considering he was married, he held back.

But still…Ji Anli was so excited he wanted to rub his hands together.

“You know, I asked but you should understand what I mean, right?”

Lin Jing was calm when he heard about the peacock but when he heard that Jiang Jun wanted to display his feathers for his partner, he was amused.

However, it was clear that the person in front of him genuinely wanted to see it, almost spinning in excitement.

He lowered his eyes, thought for a moment and agreed, “Sure.”

The smile on Ji Anli’s face blossomed completely.

“General Lin, you’re such a great person!” He knew it, the partner he chose was top-notch.

Lin Jing’s lips curled into a gentle smile.

He was curious to see how Major General Jiang would display his feathers in front of his partner, especially in his presence.

When Ji Anli and Lin Jing arrived outside the old duke’s room, Jiang Jun was standing straight and looking particularly serious.

He turned to look when he heard the noise and immediately saw Ji Anli following closely behind General Lin.

Ji Anli exchanged a glance with Jiang Jun and gave him an OK gesture. He then calmly stepped forward, listening to Lin Jing discuss with the person in charge about showing him to Yiya.

The person in charge looked grateful, such a good person.

He even wanted to bow to Mr. Ji.

Initially, he thought it would only be a few days and there wouldn’t be any major issues.

But as soon as the old duke arrived, a big problem arose.

The results weren’t even out yet and the old duke was almost hurt.

If something really happened to the old duke or he was fatally shocked, he would have to apologize with his life.

Fearing that the person might wake up again, the person in charge quickly led the two of them to the end of the room.

Ji Anli waved to Jiang Jun and walked ahead.

Jiang Jun watched their disappearing figures in confusion.

Did he see it right?

Did General Lin really agree?

He actually agreed to this?

…..
Yiya was locked in the last room of the corridor.

Because of his unstable emotions and the possibility of going berserk at any moment, the security around him was even tighter than around the old duke, making the room as secure as a fortress.

To be safe, Lin Jing had Ander bring a box of energy crystals nearby to replenish Ji Anli’s energy at any time.

He himself acted as a shield to protect Ji Anli in case Yiya woke up and posed a threat.

When Ji Anli saw Yiya, he was momentarily stunned, understanding why Yiya was recognized.

Yiya resembled the old duke, though only about thirty percent.

The old duke had aged so the resemblance wasn’t much but the old duke’s hair had turned completely white while Yiya had soft silver-gray hair which increased the similarity significantly at first glance.

In addition to the resemblance in appearance, Yiya’s face shape was a perfect replica of the old duke’s which is why people suspected he was the child the old duke had been searching for.

Lin Jing noticed Ji Anli’s reaction and knew his guess was right.

He leaned in closer and lowered his voice, “The reason the people who found him were certain, besides his appearance, was because he was wearing an earring that the duchess had on when she was kidnapped. It had the initials of the old duke and the duchess engraved on it.”

Ji Anli nodded.

He never doubted that Yiya was the old duke’s child.

After all, in his past life, the person was found and even inherited the duke’s title which proved who he indeed was.

After Yi Ya fell asleep, he was very quiet but his thin face was pale. There were wounds on his arms, neck, and even his face.

The wounds on his arms were bandaged and not visible but the ones on his face and neck were clearly from scratches, likely self-inflicted during an emotional outburst.

Ji Anli reached out to check him over.

Yi Ya’s healing power was nearly depleted, his mental state was poor and his physical condition was bad.

Ji Anli quickly began using his healing power to treat him.

However, it wasn’t long before Ji Anli frowned at Yi Ya, withdrew his hand, and stared at him in confusion.

Lin Jing asked softly, “What’s wrong?”

Ji Anli thought for a moment, shook his head and continued to treat Yi Ya.

This time, he used a lot of healing power until it was finally effective.

Yi Ya’s healing power was somewhat stabilized but how he would be, depended on when he woke up.

As Ji Anli withdrew his hand, Lin Jing who had been watching his condition, immediately supported him and placed energy crystals into his palm one by one.

Only when Ji Anli’s complexion returned to normal did Lin Jing ask worriedly, “How do you feel now?”

Ji Anli had already recovered.

He had exhausted his healing power several times recently and found that absorbing energy crystals after depletion was faster and more effective.

Lin Jing was relieved only after confirming that Ji Anli was indeed fine.

The person in charge was so moved that he didn’t know what to say, expressing endless gratitude as he escorted them out of the room.

Worried about Mr. Ji’s condition, he suggested that General Lin should focus on accompanying Mr. Ji and not worry about the old duke for now.

If it were before, Ji Anli would have insisted that he didn’t need any special attention but he agreed this time, thinking of something.

Once they returned to their room, Lin Jing asked first, “Is there something wrong with this Yi Ya?”

Lin Jing had been observing Ji Anli’s condition since he started treating Yi Ya.

Initially, he was worried about Ji Anli’s physical endurance but he soon noticed Ji Anli’s strange reaction to Yi Ya, prompting the question.

Ji Anli shook his head, “I can’t say for sure… but is his healing power innate? When I first started treating him, I used up half of my healing power without any response. It only started working later but I’ve only recently evolved, so I’m not sure if this is normal.”

Lin Jing wasn’t a healer and only had a basic understanding of treatment.

He replied, “When the person in charge found Yi Ya, he was being coveted for his healing power and was locked up with other healers to be provided to the powerful who needed them.

Those people harmed his foster parents in front of him to force him into signing a servitude contract which is why he was so traumatized.

By the time he was found, there was no one else left in his home.

He was already severely traumatized and went mad at the sight of people so it’s unknown if his healing power is innate.”

In this situation, if his healing power wasn’t innate but rather a result of a secondary evolution like Ji Anli’s then anything could be possible

Ji Anli also thought of this and waved his hand, “Luckily, it’s been suppressed. Let’s see if he’ll be more clear-headed when he wakes up.”

The old duke woke up soon after and was very grateful to Ji Anli for helping to treat Yiya, sending over quite a few gifts.

When night fell, Yiya woke up.

Lin Jing was called back by the person in charge. By the time he returned, it was already the middle of the night.

Ji Anli, half-asleep, heard the noise, opened his eyes to take a look. He saw it was Lin Jing and closed his eyes again.

The next day, when Ji Anli woke up, he was the only one left in the room.

After washing up and having breakfast, Lin Jing returned around noon, accompanied by Jiang Jun.

Ji Anli was surprised that the two of them came back together, “Doesn’t someone need to stay by the old duke’s side?”

Jiang Jun explained first, “The person in charge has transferred two more teams from the military so now there are four teams taking turns to protect him. General Lin and I guarded yesterday so we can rest today.”

Lin Jing also nodded, still stepping over to sit beside Ji Anli, adding, “The old duke’s health has improved a lot. Yiya woke up last night, his mind is clearer and he hasn’t gone mad again.

Today, the two of them are mainly cooperating for blood tests and the results will be out tomorrow.”

Ji Anli breathed a sigh of relief.

At least one potential hazard was resolved.

He looked at Lin Jing then at Jiang Jun who winked at him.

Ji Anli got the signal, cleared his throat and reminded Lin Jing, “About what you promised me yesterday?”

Can he be alone with Jiang Jun?

He really wanted to see how a white peacock spreads its tail. Just thinking about it made him impatient!

Lin Jing, very calmly, poured a glass of water for Jiang Jun who was also curious about his reaction, “No rush, I won’t go back on my word.”

He said, pouring a glass for Ji Anli as well.

Ji Anli knew Lin Jing wouldn’t go back on his word so he took a big sip from his cup and urged Jiang Jun across from him, “You drink too.”

Maybe after drinking, Lin Jing would move on his own and he could see the peacock display he had been longing for.

Jiang Jun was suspicious.

Could he really endure this?

Or did this guy not care about Little Anli at all?

Absentmindedly, he picked up his cup, took a sip, and then heard someone who time it perfectly, speak with a mischievous tone, “I promised Anli yesterday to let him see Major General Jiang’s peacock display. Of course, he’s curious, and I’m curious too, so… you don’t mind an extra viewer, do you? Major General Jiang.”

He promised to let Ji Anli watch but he never said he’d let him watch alone.

In response, Jiang Jun choked on his water, bending over and desperately patting his chest as he coughed
