Chapter 29 : Jealousy

Accidentally Choosing the Strongest Alpha in the Galaxy on a Blind Date

Lin Jing was stunned when he heard Ji Anli’s words, clearly not expecting him to propose going with him.

Although this mission wasn’t dangerous, it was just accompanying the old duke to ensure his safety. It wouldn’t take much time.

But thinking of something, Lin Jing hesitated for a moment before speaking, “Are you worried about the heat disorder? I asked the doctor, he said that right after a temporary marking, the effect is the strongest. There won’t be any unexpected incidents or frequent heat disorders in the next few days.”

Recalling what the doctor said about clinginess and dependency, Lin Jing’s voice became softer and gentler, afraid Ji Anli would misunderstand that he didn’t want to take him along.

Ji Anli didn’t catch the nuance in Lin Jing’s words.

Thinking that Lin Jing might not survive this trip, he insisted, “I want to go with you.”

He lowered his eyes and sighed, “Besides, I’m an SSS healer. If any unexpected situations arise, I’ll be the best backup for your mission.”

Healers are already rare, especially SSS-level healers who are as rare as phoenix feathers.
Even with the old Duke on this mission, it’s not guaranteed that such a high-level healer would be assigned.

But he’s different.

He’s Lin Jing’s partner and since they’re still in their honeymoon period, it’s perfectly reasonable for him to go along.

No one can object to that.

Lin Jing hesitated, thought for a moment and softly asked again, “Are you sure you want to go? This mission is mainly about accompanying the old Duke. You’ll be spending several days together.”

He wasn’t sure if Ji Anli’s parents had ever mentioned the events of the past to Ji Anli but since Ji Anli didn’t even know how many old Dukes there were in the empire, he probably didn’t know.

Sure enough, Ji Anli sensed something was off this time.

Lin Jing had emphasized the old Duke several times and he looked at him in confusion, “I know, you just mentioned it. You’re accompanying the old Duke on a mission. Why, is there a problem?”

After spending the past few days together, Lin Jing had come to understand Ji Anli.

Once he made up his mind, it was hard to change it and eventually, he would find out anyway.

So Lin Jing didn’t hide it, “Speaking of which, the old Duke is your granduncle.”

“What?” Ji Anli was stunned.

He had never heard this unfamiliar title before nor had his parents ever mentioned the old Duke, let alone that he was his granduncle.

For the past eighteen years, Ji Anli’s life had been simple, almost a routine between the Ji family, school, and the Wen family.

So, there was little mention of him on the star network and people paid more attention to Ji Chenhao instead.

Moreover, Ji Anli was born without psychic power, had an early engagement and his parents’ work was confidential research.

So Ji Anli kept a low profile, rarely socialized and didn’t attend parties.

This was why he didn’t doubt his uncle’s words at all after his parents’ accident in his past life.

But now Lin Jing was telling him that the old Duke was his granduncle?

“Then what about my grandaunt?” Ji Anli had a suspicion.

His parents had never mentioned it all these years which could only mean the two families had fallen out, possibly involving this grandaunt, leading to the two families never speaking again.

Lin Jing didn’t hide it from Ji Anli.

If he was determined to go on this trip, it was best to clarify the grievances between the two families beforehand, “The old Duchess passed away many years ago which is also why the two families stopped interacting.”

Ji Anli frowned, “Was it because of the old Duke?” He knew his parents’ character well.

If it wasn’t the other party’s fault, they wouldn’t hold a grudge

Lin Jing nodded and then shook his head, “Not exactly, but the death of the old Duchess was indeed because of him or rather… the events of that year were too widespread and the outcome too tragic.

Not long after, His Majesty suppressed the matter and it’s rarely mentioned on the Star Network now nor does anyone dare to bring it up.

After that incident, the old Duke fell ill and never recovered.

Over the years, he’s been searching for his son who was lost until his condition worsened in the past two years and he had to recuperate at the capital star castle.”

At this point, Lin Jing lowered his eyes and it was only then that he suddenly remembered that his connection with Ji Anli wasn’t just from being saved in the alley. It seemed to have started many years ago.

Ji Anli was full of questions.

He really didn’t know about these things or rather, his parents and even the Ji family had never told him about them.

He hadn’t heard so he hadn’t asked, “A lost son? Has the old Duke’s child not been found yet?”

And what about the new Duke that Ji Chenhao mentioned?

Is this some kind of extreme two-for-one exchange?

Lin Jing and the old Duke’s lives for this new Duke?

Lin Jing thought about it and realized this wasn’t a secret mission.

Their task was more about ensuring the old Duke’s safety so he spoke up, “A few days ago, there was news about the old Duke’s son. My task this time is to escort the old Duke safely to him.”

Ji Anli asked, “The events of that year… Can you tell me about them?”

If it really involved that aunt he had never met then this trip… he really didn’t know if he should go against his parents’ wishes to meet the old Duke.

Since Lin Jing had already started talking, he didn’t hide it from Ji Anli and roughly recounted the events of that year.

The matter, if truly calculated, involved events from over twenty years ago, back when Lin Jing and his brother weren’t even born.

At that time, Lin Jing’s mother, Ji Anli’s mother, and the Duchess were very close.

Lin Jing’s mother was pregnant with twins and the three of them joked that if Ji Anli’s mother and the Duchess also had children, the three families could form two pairs. If not, they could at least be sworn brothers.

Unfortunately, this joke was never mentioned again.

When Lin Jing’s mother was seven months pregnant, the old Marshal and the old Duke fought a life-and-death battle with interstellar traitors.

Who knew that someone would exploit the situation from behind and Lin Jing’s mother, as the Marshal’s wife, was captured.

What happened afterward, Lin Jing didn’t know.

What he could find out was that their side won the battle but the traitor escaped with serious injuries.

Lin Jing’s mother gave birth prematurely to twins but was severely injured and didn’t survive long after.

Lin Yu was born with a serious illness and Lin Jing had a genetic defect.

However, from childhood to adulthood, Lin Jing only knew Lin Yu was sick but the specifics were always kept secret by the old Marshal.

They thought the matter ended there but five years later, the escaped traitor returned while having his men kidnapped the pregnant Duchess as diversion.

“At that time, the old Duke knew that if he let the traitor go, it would cause irreparable damage to the entire empire. He had no choice but to pursue the traitor first.

By the time he dealt with the traitor and went to rescue the Duchess, it was too late.

The traitor’s men had already fled the capital star.

After days and nights of pursuit, they found the Duchess barely alive, only managing to say that her Omega male infant had been taken before she passed.”

“The traitor had a deadly weapon. If it came to mutual destruction, tens of thousands would die. So the old Duke pursued with the determination to die, entrusting the rescue of the Duchess to my father.

In the end… the old Duke successfully killed the traitor but was severely injured himself, losing all his psychic strength and becoming a cripple.

At the same time, His Majesty’s second son also lost his life.”

“Later, the old Duke didn’t recover from his injuries and went to search for his wife. The severe physical damage and the loss of loved ones left him devastated…”

Lin Jing didn’t quite know how to express himself.

He understood the choices made by the old Duke at the time and he also understood the actions of Ji Anli’s parents.

This whole affair started because of the old Duke but in the end, it was her cousin who lost her life and her nephew went missing.

It was only natural for them to hold a grudge.

Not to mention, Ji Anli’s mother was there at the time and witnessed her cousin’s tragic death which led to her giving birth prematurely due to grief.

It took her several months to recover.

Perhaps that’s why she protected Ji Anli so thoroughly and also why she harbored resentment towards the Lin family.

They cut off all contact and arranging a marriage for Ji Anli early on.

Ji Anli didn’t speak for a moment after hearing this.

His cousin’s death wasn’t directly caused by the old Duke but it was related to him.

His mother knew it was just misplaced anger but with her relative gone, she probably feared that seeing the old Duke would remind her of her cousin’s tragic death.

No wonder he hadn’t known about this cousin’s existence all these years…

So, in his past life, the noble new Duke that Ji Chenhao mentioned was actually his cousin by blood?

Thinking of this, Ji Anli felt conflicted.

Fortunately, this cousin hadn’t been found yet. He didn’t know Ji Chenhao and hadn’t helped him so there was no enmity between them.

Considering that Lin Jing and the old Duke might lose their lives on this trip, he thought it over and decided to set aside past grievances for now and focus on saving them first.

“I’ve decided to go with you.”

Lin Jing had expected this.

“Alright, I’ll report it first. If there’s no issue, you can come with me. But do you need to take a leave from school?”

Ji Anli shook his head.

“I plan to attend my last class this afternoon and then apply to change my major for the next semester.”

Even if he wasn’t going on a mission with Lin Jing, he didn’t intend to continue with his current major.

His current major was a general information-related one, chosen as the best option when he had no psychic power.

But now that he had evolved into a healer, this major was clearly unsuitable.

Even if he didn’t switch, President An would eventually suggest he transfer to the special medical care program.

But Ji Anli didn’t want to pursue that major as Ji Chenhao was currently there and he didn’t want to deal with that annoyance every day.

Over the past few days, he had claimed disinterest in the ancient medical books from the ancient Blue Star provided by the system, but he had still taken the time to read some.

They were all unique copies and with Lin Jing’s poison, it made no sense for him to earn so many touch points only to spend them on medicinal materials.

It would be better to make reasonable use of them.

So he decided to switch to the ancient Blue Star traditional Chinese medicine program.

Lin Jing didn’t ask further, assuming it was President An’s suggestion and acknowledged it before quickly heading out to report Ji Anli’s decision to join the mission

Ji Anli soon received a message from President An, asking if he really wanted to go along, if he had agreed to go.

He advised, “Your situation is special now, and since you’re newly married, it’s not good to be separated from General Lin for too long. I’ve already inquired about this mission at a higher level. It’s not dangerous.

They’ve already found the person over there. They just need to verify the bloodline to confirm he’s the duke’s son. So you can return in a few days.

The old duke’s health isn’t great either, probably… just a matter of a year or two, so if possible, Ji, please pay a bit more attention.”

President An was clearly one of those who knew about the events of that year.

He didn’t force Ji Anli to help with treatment, only mentioned paying attention, leaving it up to Ji Anli’s mood.

After all, they had an S-level healer with them. At least the old duke’s life wasn’t in danger.

Ji Anli agreed without saying much.

After all, this trip… really wasn’t safe.

If it could cost the lives of a General and an old duke then the people going on this trip might all be at risk.

He couldn’t tell anyone about this.

Was he supposed to tell Lin Jing, ‘I bet you might die on this trip?’

Not to mention Lin Jing wouldn’t believe it, even he didn’t believe it.

So… he could only take things as they came and stock up on touch points.

After finishing his last class in the afternoon, Ji Anli went to change his major.

The principal was stunned when he found out, “What? Transfer to Ancient Blue Star Herbal Medicine? Are you sure, Ji? That’s the most niche of niche majors.”

The principal couldn’t help but use several ‘most’ in a row, showing how obscure and unpopular it was.

But for such a major, their academy’s rising star wanted to study it?

Does this make sense?

It doesn’t make sense!

Ji Anli said, “I’m very interested in this major. Besides, I’m now an SSS healer and the specialized medical courses aren’t suitable for me.”

His situation was special and there were currently no studies suitable for a SSS healer so he wouldn’t learn much if he went.

The principal only agreed to the transfer but wouldn’t approve where to transfer to, suggesting Ji Anli take a few days to rest and think it over and then discuss it with the higher-ups.

Ji Anli wasn’t in a hurry and agreed.

In the next two days, Ji Anli didn’t idle.

Using his hidden illness as an excuse, he gathered a lot of touch points, increasing his original thousand-plus to nearly two thousand.

Early that morning, Ji Anli got ready, dressed simply in black pants and a white shirt, carrying a backpack as he followed Lin Jing to the starship base.

Since this trip was escorted by General Lin and a dozen soldiers, Xie Lie and the others didn’t follow.

When the group arrived beside the starship, everyone was already there, prepared and waiting.

They had received the message from above so they weren’t surprised by Ji Anli’s presence, assuming it was to take care of the old duke’s health.

Ji Anli boarded the starship with Lin Jing.

The old duke was already sitting there.

Hearing the commotion, he turned his head and upon seeing Ji Anli, he was momentarily stunned.

Then, his wrinkled, pale and haggard face showed some emotion.

His expression changed a few times before he finally smiled gently, “Is that Little Li? Come sit. The last time I saw you, you were just a child and now you’re married.”

Ji Anli looked at the Duke’s completely white hair.

The man seemed to be only in his fifties but he looked like he was in his seventies or eighties.

With a sigh in his heart, Ji Anli didn’t say anything and simply responded, “Your Grace.”

The Duke’s eyes showed a hint of melancholy.

He wanted to say that Ji Anli could call him uncle but considering the two families were now estranged, he pretended not to notice Ji Anli’s reluctance and smiled, inviting them to sit.

Just as he finished speaking, he suddenly started coughing.

A healer immediately stepped forward to help with treatment.

Ji Anli had already looked over but seeing that there was a healer on hand, he sat back down.

He chose a seat a bit further from the Duke.

Lin Jing, worried that Ji Anli might feel uncomfortable, went over to the Duke, whispered a few words and then returned to sit beside Ji Anli.

“The Duke has had this chronic illness for a long time. Those two are very experienced S-rank healers and are well-acquainted with his condition. There’s no major issue.” Lin Jing explained.

Seeing Ji Anli nod without showing any other emotion, he felt relieved.

Although the Duke was technically Ji Anli’s uncle, Ji Anli had never met him before so he was essentially a stranger.

Ji Anli’s attitude towards the Duke was just like dealing with any patient who might need treatment, nothing more.

Even if it was just a stranger, Ji Anli would save someone if he saw they were in danger. The Duke was no different from anyone else in his eyes.

Understanding this, Lin Jing wasn’t worried that Ji Anli would feel uncomfortable interacting with the Duke during the journey.

Ji Anli was quite calm but the Duke seemed a bit distracted throughout the journey.

His illness was indeed chronic and he didn’t have much time left.

However, he couldn’t rest in peace until he found that child with his own eyes.

Over the years, he had spent most of his time away and wasn’t very familiar with the affairs of the capital star.

Although he had returned in the past two years, he was mostly unconscious and recuperating so he knew little about Ji Anli’s situation.

He had only just learned that this junior whom he had barely met, was also going on this journey and he had only just found out about Ji Anli’s recent marriage.

He felt guilty and upset but didn’t know what to say.

So, after the starship took off, they spent an awkward day and night in flight.

When they landed on Planet A, Ji Anli finally realized that the Duke might really not have much time left.

In such a short period, he saw the Duke being treated no less than ten times.

Could it be that he was wrong and this mission wasn’t dangerous at all but rather that the Duke was nearing the end of his life?

Was finding his son too exciting, causing an early onset of his illness?

With nothing else to do during the day and night on the starship, Ji Anli searched the star network.

Although the events of that year had been suppressed and no one talked about them anymore, there were still many curious people like him.

He actually found a forum and roughly learned some of the situation

It was pretty much as Lin Jing had explained but with more details.

For instance, the old Duke was actually an SSS psychic power user back in the day. He was known alongside the old Marshal as one of the Empire’s twin heroes.

In the end, both of them stepped down.

Back then, the late Emperor originally wanted the old Duke to succeed him and favored him more.

However, the old Duke was severely injured and became a cripple, losing his wife and child in the process.

The current Emperor also lost a son at that time.

The old Duke felt guilty for causing his brother to lose a child. Since his health was no longer suitable, he gave up the position of Emperor to the current one and went everywhere with his ailing body to search for his son.

When the starship arrived at Planet A, Ji Anli finally put away his bracelet.

He waited for the old Duke and the others to disembark first before slowly following behind.

He wore a hat when he came out, keeping a low profile.

Lin Jing assigned two guards to accompany him, one of whom was a familiar face—Ander.

Ji Anli had previously suppressed Ander’s psychic disorder so he was fine for a mission now.

Since Lin Jing didn’t trust many people, he wasn’t comfortable leaving Ji Anli with someone else. So he brought Ander along.

Seeing a familiar face put Ji Anli at ease.

Not long after, the old Duke’s guards sent by Planet A arrived.

There were fifty of them, all wearing guard uniforms similar to the one Xie Lie wore with only their eyes and mouths exposed, wrapped up tightly.

Ji Anli glanced outside.

The lead guard was very tall, standing straight in his uniform with a sharp and imposing presence.

For some reason, Ji Anli found him familiar but couldn’t recall where he had seen him before.

Ander followed Ji Anli’s gaze and also noticed the head guard, softly introducing, “This is Major General Jiang from Planet A’s military. I’ve heard he’s been on a rapid rise in the past two years, quickly climbing ranks.

He’s a formidable SS psychic power user. With him assisting the General in protecting the old Duke, this trip should be fine.”

Ji Anli acknowledged with a sound and quickly shifted his gaze, not looking any further.

Before long, the two groups merged.

Lin Jing returned to Ji Anli’s side with Major General Jiang following behind and the old Duke leading the way.

Lin Jing lowered his voice and said, “Next, we’ll escort the old Duke to the castle. Once we arrive, you can rest well there.”

Although they could sleep on the starship, it was certainly not a good rest.

In the coming days, they just needed to confirm identity before they could set off back.

However, they needed to consider that the old Duke might get too emotional upon seeing his son which could worsen his condition so they needed to stay a few more days.

Ji Anli made a sound of acknowledgment. He was just about to say something when he suddenly frowned and looked in a certain direction.

Sure enough, he met a gaze from the right rear, belonging to none other than Major General Jiang.

Major General Jiang, upon being discovered, didn’t panic.

He continued to stare at Ji Anli unabashedly, even grinning to reveal a set of big white teeth.

The two sharp canine teeth instantly dispelled the discomfort Ji Anli felt from being scrutinized like that.

Ji Anli stared blankly at those two canines, something clicked in his mind and he finally realized why this person seemed familiar, “You, you…”

But how could it be?

As Ji Anli spoke, Major General Jiang pulled down the mask on his face, revealing a handsome face with a smile that grew even brighter, completely different from the seriousness seen before, “Long time no see, little Anli.”

With this somewhat intimate address, Lin Jing who had noticed Ji Anli’s unusual mood, frowned as he looked over.

Ji Anli looked at the familiar yet unfamiliar face in front of him with a mix of surprise and astonishment. After a while, he murmured, “How… is this possible?”

Major General Jiang, also known as Jiang Jun, was quite surprised at Ji Anli’s disbelief, “You didn’t know? Two years ago, I sent you a letter explaining this and said that if you didn’t mind my current status, we could continue to correspond.

You didn’t reply so I assumed you refused. I was heartbroken for a long time back then.”

Ji Anli indeed didn’t know about this, shaking his head, “Who did you send the letter to? I never received it. I thought you had no intention of contacting us after moving away.”

Something flickered in Jiang Jun’s eyes and he waved his hand with a smile, “I’ll tell you later.”

Ji Anli agreed. Since they were still outside and it was inconvenient, he continued to follow Lin Jing and the others towards the castle.

Along the way, Ji Anli thought about Jiang Jun, especially surprised that not only had he become a major general but he also looked completely different.

Clearly, he was nothing like before…

It’s no wonder he didn’t recognize him immediately.

As his only friend, Ji Anli hadn’t seen Jiang Jun since they parted two years ago, let alone in his previous life.

But in the blink of an eye, how did his dear friend who was a soft and gentle Omega two years ago, turn into a tall, long-legged Alpha who could take on ten people?

As for Jiang Jun’s claim of writing a letter, Ji Anli didn’t need to think hard to guess that Wen Zhen had hidden it.

He wasn’t good at socializing and had only known his fiancé Wen Zhen and his close friend Jiang Jun since childhood.

One was his fiancé, the other an Omega friend.

When Jiang Jun’s family moved away from the capital star due to some matters, he was heartbroken for a long time

Jiang Jun had cried his eyes out back then, promising to write once he got to his destination.

But after he left, there was no news.

He didn’t know the other person’s address and just like that, they lost contact.

Who would have thought that the reality was Jiang Jun had actually differentiated from an Omega into an Alpha?

And in two years, he had become Major General Jiang?

The shock and joy that Ji Anli felt were so overwhelming that he completely failed to notice Lin Jing who was unusually silent the whole way. Ander was desperately trying to signal Ji Anli but he might as well have been signaling a blind man.

Ander followed behind, helplessly looking up at the sky, “Come on, Mr. Ji, at least glance back at the boss. I think the boss is about to be marinated in jealousy.”

Yet Mr. Ji was completely oblivious. When they arrived at the castle and the boss went to greet the guards, Mr. Ji just waved his hand? Didn’t even look?

Ander whispered, “Should I go instead?”

Lin Jing glanced at him, “Stay here and protect Mr. Ji. I’m going on duty.”

After saying that, he gave Ji Anli a deep look but Ji Anli was still in a daze.

Only then did Lin Jing stride away.

Ander shrank his neck. Why does it feel like the boss turned into a resentful husband for a moment?

Ji Anli finally snapped out of the shock of his best friend turning into an Alpha. Only then did he realize he was in a room, “Huh, where’s General Lin?”

Ander cleared his throat, “The General and Major General Jiang are switching shifts to protect the old Duke. He’s gone to relieve Major General Jiang and will be back later.”

After saying that, Ander silently cursed.

The boss went on duty to relieve Major General Jiang which means Major General Jiang will come looking for Mr. Ji soon?

Damn. Will the General be okay?

He’s probably not just marinated in jealousy but completely becoming pickled by now.

Ander stood silently by Ji Anli’s side, deciding that today he wouldn’t leave Mr. Ji’s side for even a moment.

Ander guessed it right.

In less than ten minutes, a steady voice came from outside the room, familiar too, “Little Anli, are you there? It’s Jiang Jun.”

Ander immediately perked up, standing at attention, ” Mr. Ji, should I let him in?”

Ji Anli responded before Ander could react, he went to open the door himself, letting Jiang Jun in.

Ander felt a wave of dizziness as he saw the person who appeared.

Oh no, in just this short time, he had changed clothes too. Now he’s wearing black pants and a white shirt.

Who could tell who was whose partner?

Jiang Jun leaned against the doorframe with a grin, “So, do I look a bit like I used to?”

Ji Anli really took a moment to look him over then shook his head, “If it weren’t for the similar outline, I wouldn’t recognize you. They say men change a lot as they grow but you changed and I didn’t change at all.”

Is this the difference between being differentiated and not?

Jiang Jun shook his head, “Really? If we’re talking about big changes, it’s you, right? In just over ten days, you broke off an engagement, went on blind dates, got engaged, and married.

I was shocked when I saw it on the star net. I thought you forgot about me and didn’t dare to contact me. Who knew… was it Wen Zhen’s doing?”

Ji Anli let him in, nodding, “It should be him. I thought you didn’t want to contact old friends anymore…”

Once Jiang Jun was settled, Ji Anli introduced him to Ander, “This is my childhood friend.”

Jiang Jun winked at Ander, “I’ve known Little Anli for over ten years. We used to hold hands and go to school together.”

Ander was dumbfounded, Holy crap… holding hands? Going to school?

General! Here comes someone trying to steal him away!

Wait, hold on, wasn’t Mr. Ji’s previous fiancé Wen Zhen?

Could that guy tolerate this?

Ji Anli saw Ander’s expression and laughed, “Alright, stop leaving things half-said. Can I tell him?”

He didn’t specify what he wanted to say but the years of understanding made Jiang Jun shrug, clearly indifferent.

So Ji Anli formally introduced Jiang Jun beside him, “We have indeed known each other for over ten years, and we did hold hands going to school…”

Of course, that was in kindergarten where holding hands was quite normal.

Ander felt another wave of dizziness, This is bad

Ji Anli continued, “We lost touch until he moved away two years ago. But I only found out today that he transformed from an Omega to an Alpha two years ago.”

Ande had been daydreaming about who would win in a fight between the childhood friend and the new arrival. How the general would be forcefully taken over after a crushing defeat.

Suddenly, two words hit him, leaving him dazed, Huh?

What?!

Ande was genuinely confused.

He did know about this rising star, Major General Jiang who had been making waves in the past two years.

But he joined the military two years ago as an Alpha.

Who would have thought he used to be an Omega?

All of Ande’s worries vanished in an instant.

He suddenly understood why Mr. Ji was so shocked when he first saw Major General Jiang.

If he hadn’t seen a childhood friend for two years and they suddenly turned into a big, strong Alpha, he’d be stunned too.

Who wouldn’t be?

It was like if Manfred suddenly turned from a rough Alpha into an Omega.

Ugh, can’t even imagine that, too scary.

Ander was relieved to know that Major General Jiang wasn’t here to steal anyone away.

Knowing the two had a lot to catch up on after so long, he took the initiative to step outside and let them have a good chat.

Once the door closed, Ji Anli listened to Jiang Jun calling him “Little Anli” repeatedly and said helplessly, “You can call me Ji Anli or just Anli. ‘Little Anli’ is a childhood nickname, let’s not use that anymore.”

It sounded weird to him.

Jiang Jun didn’t insist, smiling, “Alright, the kid’s grown up and wants to save face. What else can I do?”

Ji Anli felt a bit sentimental, “Why did your family decide to move back then?”

He didn’t really know the details, just that suddenly their family decided to move quickly without giving them a proper chance to say goodbye.

Jiang Jun’s mood was complicated, his eyes downcast but he didn’t hide it, “It’s nothing, really. I actually have a genetic defect but my parents kept it a secret to prevent bullying.

However, that year, it got out. During that time, I was bullied by other family members.

My parents, fearing I’d be scarred, cut ties with the family and moved to Planet A.

It all happened so suddenly and I was afraid you’d reject me as a friend if you knew about my defect so I thought I’d tell you once things settled down…”

Unexpectedly, that separation lasted two years and shortly after arriving at Planet A, he transformed into an Alpha.

Even more unpredictable was that the truth he once tried to hide was nothing when he learned about Ji Anli’s news online.

Ji Anli had chosen a partner, General Lin who also had a genetic defect.

Meanwhile, outside the room, Ander was still in a daze, suddenly realizing something was off.

Even though they were childhood friends, Major General Jiang was now an Alpha.

Was it really okay to leave Mr. Ji alone in a room with him?

Ander was torn but then thought it was no big deal.

Hadn’t he also been alone with him before?

Just then, he looked up to see a figure striding towards him.

Ander instinctively stood up straight, inexplicably nervous, stammering, “G-General.”

Lin Jing frowned, looking at him in confusion, “Why are you standing here?”
