Chapter 14 : Date

Accidentally Choosing the Strongest Alpha in the Galaxy on a Blind Date

Lin Jing first went upstairs to tend to the wounds that had long since split open.

Earlier in the alley, he had to transform and unleash his potential to deal with the people Lin Yu sent.

He was already injured before that but fortunately, these injuries were nothing new to him and didn’t affect him much.

After Ji Anli treated him and suppressed the outburst, he temporarily changed into a clean set of clothes and went to the matchmaking event as planned to be a witness.

The more Lin Yu didn’t want him to go and stop it, the more determined he was not to let Lin Yu succeed.

He didn’t want an innocent person to become Lin Yu’s target and end up as a sacrifice.

What he didn’t expect was that while he did stop it, he ended up becoming the fiancé instead of just a witness.

Luckily, the villa was well-stocked with medicine.

When he came downstairs in a fresh set of clothes, Manfred and Ander were sitting there, looking serious.

They turned to him as soon as they heard him, unable to hold back their concern and asked, “Boss, are you okay? We heard you were attacked on the way to the matchmaking event. Was it your big brother again?”

By the time they got the news, the attack was already over so they weren’t clear on the danger involved.

But knowing that every time that person made a move, it was with deadly intent, they couldn’t help but worry.

This concern momentarily overshadowed another piece of shocking news they had received.

Lin Jing briefly explained how Lin Yu tried to stop him from going to the matchmaking event with deadly force, causing his psychic outburst to happen prematurely, and how he happened to meet Ji Anli who successfully suppressed it.

Manfred and Ander exchanged a glance.

“So, it seems all three of us have been saved by Mr. Ji once…”

Manfred suddenly had a bright idea, looking at his general with his eyes peeking out from his tightly bandaged face.

“So, General, did you just follow the old saying, ‘a life-saving grace should be repaid with one’s own body’, and offer yourself up?”

If he had known such a good thing would happen, he would have done the same last time.

No, even if he wanted to, Mr. Ji probably wouldn’t have been willing.

He recalled the last time Mr. Ji came to the villa.

He thought Mr. Ji was truly good-looking and the treatment was effective so he couldn’t help but stare a little.

But before he could even compliment him, the General stopped him.

Was it possible that the General had already taken a liking to Mr. Ji back then?

Lin Jing gave him a long look.

Manfred got even more excited, the more he thought about it, the more he felt it was true.

“Heh heh. General, don’t hide it from us. We’ve been with you long enough to know you. When have you ever agreed to compromise so easily? If you hadn’t taken a liking to him, we wouldn’t believe it. Last time, when Mr. Ji treated Ander in this villa, did you fall in love at first sight?

Tsk tsk, I thought you were acting strange back then. I looked at Mr. Ji a bit more, and you weren’t happy. Who would’ve thought that the General would secretly get jealous…”

Ander, who was the one being treated at the time, didn’t know about this.

Suddenly, he thought of the trending topic on the star network and looked at the boss, thinking this might just be the truth

Lin Jing was silent for a long time, wanting to explain but he couldn’t possibly tell the two of them that his relationship with Mr. Ji was just a mutually beneficial marriage, right?

He also couldn’t expose Mr. Ji’s hidden ailment nor could he tell a third person about the family secret recipe.

It wasn’t that he didn’t trust Manfred and Ander but the more people who knew, the less of a secret it would be.

There was no guarantee that they wouldn’t accidentally let it slip, bringing disaster upon Mr. Ji.

So Lin Jing listened to the explanation and chose to tacitly agree.

Manfred and Ander were just testing the waters, but the general didn’t deny it?

They looked at Lin Jing with strange expressions.

“Boss, are you serious? Are you really engaged to Mr. Ji?”

Lin Jing glanced at them.

“Get me a place near Mr. Ji’s school in the next two days. Make sure it’s fully furnished and charge all expenses to my account.”

Manfred was bewildered.

“Two days? Isn’t that too rushed? Even if it’s for a marital house, it’s too early, right?”

It’s hard to find a good place in such a short time.

They just got engaged. Shouldn’t it take at least a year or so before they get married?

Lin Jing dropped an even bigger bombshell.

“It’s not too early. Price is not an issue but the place needs to be nice. In seven days, Mr. Ji and I will register our marriage.”

The two who were sitting there in a daze lifted their heads in confusion, thinking they had misheard.

Once they confirmed it was indeed seven days, they felt like their brains were about to explode.

Holy crap…

They thought the general’s cold demeanor meant he was destined to be single but suddenly he wasn’t!

Not only did he unexpectedly find someone but he was also getting married in a flash!

…..
That night, countless people couldn’t sleep and Wen Zhen was one of them.

Ever since he found out Ji Anli was going to a matchmaking event, he locked himself in his room and didn’t come out.

He was afraid of Ji Anli going and even more afraid of him choosing an Alpha.

After all, the top-quality Alphas selected by the empire’s high officials were indeed one in a million and there was even the Fifth Prince.

He couldn’t understand what reason Ji Anli would have to refuse.

In the middle of the night, after drinking three bottles of alcohol, he couldn’t resist opening the star network to see the results.

Such a big event, if it happened, the empire’s official star network would surely report it, right?

But when he opened it, he was met with overwhelming headlines that left him confused and anxious.

#Good News! The first 100% compatibility AO couple in a century in the galaxy is born! (Breaking Record)#

#Official Announcement: Congratulations to Mr. Ji Anli and General Lin Jing on their successful engagement ceremony! (Trending)#

#Shocked my whole family! If my cousin hadn’t witnessed it himself, I would’ve thought he was just confused from not being selected! (Hot)#

…..
Ji Anli slowly packed up his things after finishing his last class of the morning.

Even though his classmates were all around him, no one spoke.

They exchanged curious and excited glances, unable to hide their excitement but too afraid to disturb him.

The living, breathing perfect match Omega, that’s Ji Anli, the student who’s been trending these days!

Last night, he caused such a stir on the Star Network that it almost crashed from the traffic.

The matchmaking event last night was more dramatic than any script writer could produce.

Initially, everyone thought Ji Anli would choose one of the top three candidates but it turned out to be a huge surprise, even a bit bizarre.

Who would’ve thought General Lin would go as a witness and end up bringing back a spouse?

The most unbelievable part is that their compatibility reached an astonishing 100%.

Does this mean that their union might break the theory that Alphas with genetic defects can’t have children?

Even if the chances are slim, if they do have a child, it would break records and usher in a new era.

It would be the first child born with a genetic defect. Meaning that as long as the match is right, those with genetic defects could have their own children, not truly inferior to other psychic power users.

Perhaps breaking this record would mean that interstellar people with genetic defects would be classified as the same as normal psychic power users.

Ji Anli waited until most people had left before picking up his things and heading out.

Of course, he had received a Star Message from Lin Jing saying he had arrived.

Last night, they exchanged Star Messages when they parted ways.

They were going to the hospital for a premarital check-up in the afternoon and the time before that was essentially their first real date after getting engaged.

Ji Anli’s good mood vanished when he saw Wen Zhen, unshaven and blocking the corridor, as he left the lecture hall.

Ji Anli frowned, looking at the person blocking the way, “Haven’t you heard that good dogs don’t block the road? What are you doing?”

Wen Zhen looked at Ji Anli who seemed unaffected by the broken engagement, feeling both pained and uncomfortable.

Especially knowing that Ji Anli would rather get engaged to someone with a genetic defect than come back to him.

He wished Ji Anli had chosen someone stronger, at least then he would have lost with some dignity.

“And you? What are you doing? Anli, you can’t ruin yourself just to get back at me. How could you choose General Lin with a genetic defect? Are you hating me out of love? But I didn’t even know about the broken engagement, you clearly…”

Wen Zhen showed a pained expression, holding his head, trying to evoke Ji Anli’s sympathy and guilt

He couldn’t understand it.

They had clearly been together for over a decade so why was he able to move on so quickly after the engagement was broken off, especially when it wasn’t even his decision?

Ji Anli looked him up and down, then let out a mocking laugh.

“Wen Zhen, I used to think you were just a bit dim but I didn’t realize your character was so lacking too. Oh right, if you had any decency, you wouldn’t do such selfish, profit-driven, heartless things.

What’s wrong with me choosing General Lin? Someone like you has no right to criticize him. You’re not even worth a strand of his hair. General Lin earned his rank through his own strength and outstanding military achievements.

And you? You have no skills, just living off your family’s wealth… Wen, the great young master?”

Hearing the familiar title spoken so slowly and deliberately by Ji Anli this time, the sarcasm reached its peak.

Wen Zhen felt his ears burning as he glared at Ji Anli in anger.

“Is this really how you see me? You used to…”

Ji Anli couldn’t be bothered to listen to his nonsense.

“Used to? I was just blind back then, hadn’t seen anything better, and thought that being engaged meant I shouldn’t look at the outside world. I stuck with you, thinking you were a decent person but you’re worse than a dog.
At least a dog can be loyal after being raised for over a decade.”

Saying that his past life was so miserable, Ji Chenhao was half to blame and Wen Zhen was the other half of the culprit.

Back when he was locked in the basement by Ji Chenhao to provide healing power, Wen Zhen found out and even came to see him.

He thought Wen Zhen was there to rescue him but instead, he was there to persuade him to comply.

How ironic.

For Ji Chenhao, Wen Zhen claimed that the healing power he provided could turn Ji Chenhao into a SSS healer, elevating the Ji and Wen families to unprecedented heights.

Wen Zhen chose profit over him without hesitation.

Such a despicable person, calling him a dog would be an insult to dogs.

Ji Anli didn’t bother looking at Wen Zhen’s embarrassed and angry face.

“And as for love turning into hate? There has to be love first. I just purely despise you. You were my fiancé, so no matter how awful you were, I didn’t want to be a traitor, so I endured it.

But you turned out to be the traitor first. So, goodbye means goodbye.

Once I stepped out, I realized how wonderful the world is. Anyone I meet is a thousand, ten thousand times better than you, especially General Lin.

Do you know how exceptional he is? The pinnacle of combat power, the strongest Alpha in the galaxy, undefeated in battle, the highest-ranking General with limitless potential.

Tell me, which of these can you even compare to?”

Wen Zhen was trembling with rage, never realizing he was so worthless in Ji Anli’s eyes, such a disgraceful mess.

His mind went blank.

“He… he has a genetic defect…”

Ji Anli sneered.

“Do you know that the most important reason I chose General Lin, besides all those advantages, is precisely because of his genetic defect? Do you know how much his second form captivated me at first sight? How majestic and imposing his snow wolf form is, making it unforgettable? Do you know what I thought the first time I saw it?”

Wen Zhen was completely dumbfounded.

“What?”

Even though he knew it wouldn’t be anything good, he couldn’t help but ask

Ji Anli’s voice was soft, but it was as cruel as tearing away the last layer of Wen Zhen’s dignity.

“It’s a good thing you called off the engagement earlier, otherwise wouldn’t it be bad if I fell in love with someone else at first sight? Luckily, we just happened to break off the engagement.”

Wen Zhen trembled all over.

Even though he knew, hearing it still felt unbearably harsh.

“Ji Anli, how can you treat me like this?”

Ji Anli made a sound of surprise.

“What are you talking about? Weren’t you the one who broke off the engagement first? Anyone who didn’t know would think I abandoned you. Young Master Wen, you should just go back and rely on your family. Don’t wait until you can’t even do that anymore.”

Wen Zhen gritted his teeth.

“What do you mean?”

Ji Anli replied, “Don’t you know? The projects your Wen family business recently submitted have all been rejected for some reason. Could it be that your family’s bad reputation has angered everyone? If this continues, for the sake of the family, won’t your branch lose control of the family business?”

Wen Zhen gasped, his face completely changed, and he was about to step forward to demand answers when he was suddenly kicked from behind, falling to the ground in a sorry state.

Wen Zhen quickly turned his head.

“Who is it?”

When he saw the tall figure standing in the corridor, blocking most of the light, he froze.

As the figure approached, he recognized the person as General Lin and his expression changed.

No matter how much he badmouthed him behind his back, the fact was that this man was the most outstanding General in the interstellar history for a century.

Lin Jing looked down at Wen Zhen coldly as if he were an insignificant object.

“In the future, stay away from my fiancé.”

The indifferent words carried almost no fluctuation but the threat within made Wen Zhen feel the psychic pressure from the other, causing a splitting headache and rendering him speechless.

By the time he came to his senses, Ji Anli and Lin Jing had already left.

Ji Anli followed behind Lin Jing, biting his lip, sneaking a glance ahead.

When did he get here?

Did he hear everything?

Lin Jing walked a long way before slowing down to match Ji Anli’s pace, almost walking side by side.

He couldn’t help but turn his head to look at the person who kept glancing at him.

“Do you have something to say?”

Ji Anli lowered his eyes and still asked, “When did you get here?”

Lin Jing was silent.

He had gone looking because he was worried something had happened since Ji Anli hadn’t come out for so long.

He hadn’t meant to eavesdrop but with his good hearing, he caught a bit when he was about to turn away.

In the end, Lin Jing decided to be honest.

“Not much, just from when you said how impressive my second form’s snow wolf is…”

Ji Anli couldn’t listen anymore after the beginning.

“Stop!” Oh god, no need to recount it word for word, big brother
