Chapter 35 : Decision

Accidentally Choosing the Strongest Alpha in the Galaxy on a Blind Date

Ji Anli watched as Lin Jing walked towards him step by step.

His previously restless emotions were soothed at this moment.

He was still worried, afraid that something might have happened to Lin Jing during the time he was away.

Now, seeing Lin Jing return safely, he was completely relieved.

“They didn’t give you a hard time, did they?”

Ji Anli tried to keep his voice calm but Lin Jing still noticed the expression that flashed in his eyes the moment he appeared.

It was the look of finally being at ease.

Lin Jing’s heart trembled at the concern and care from the other person. A feeling of unfamiliar warmth he had never experienced before, leaving him momentarily speechless.

It wasn’t until Lin Jing sat down beside Ji Anli that he felt a sense of reality, lowering his eyes and avoiding Ji Anli’s gaze.

“No, this time it was thanks to you saving the old Duke. They didn’t suspect me.”

Ji Anli had already returned to his usual self but he couldn’t help it.

Anyone would be worried if they just found out their partner almost died not long ago, wondering if there would be more hurdles ahead.

Fortunately, the person was back and he relaxed completely, leaning back on the sofa with a sigh.

“If they didn’t suspect you, why didn’t they just let you go?”

Lin Jing knew he was worried about him and there was a hint of a smile in his eyes as he looked over seriously.

“It’s all thanks to you…”

If it weren’t for Ji Anli sensing the aura of death in advance, if they had really gone to Yi Ya’s adoptive parents’ old house as planned, they might have…

Ji Anli waved it off nonchalantly.

“That also depends on you trusting me. Otherwise, if I said the sky was falling and you didn’t believe it, we’d be in trouble.

Has this been investigated? Who wanted to kill you and the old Duke?”

Lin Jing shook his head and then nodded.

“The people sent to Planet A did meet the person in charge at the castle at the time but when they arrived, the person in charge had already committed suicide.

There was a confession letter beside him, saying he was the mastermind behind everything.”

Ji Anli found it unbelievable.

“What’s the reason? There has to be a reason, right?”

He felt that this matter was definitely not that simple.

There must be someone behind the scenes but with the person in charge gone, it would be difficult to continue the investigation.

Lin Jing said, “The reason in the confession letter was that during the battle between the old Duke and the rebel general, many innocent people lost their lives, including his brother.

He always wanted to kill the old Duke for revenge. The people sent to investigate did find that there were indeed members of the person in charge’s family among the soldiers who sacrificed their lives back then.”

“Did His Majesty and the old Duke believe this reason?”

Even if it was for revenge, the main culprit was that rebel general.

Besides, the rebel general was already dead.

This reason was half true and half false, probably just to cover up the real person behind the scenes who wanted the old Duke dead.

Lin Jing shook his head.

“This reason doesn’t hold up well but with the person in charge dead, everything else is cut off.

After investigating for so long without finding anything else, for now, this is all we have.

Everyone else except those connected to the person in charge has been released.”

Ji Anli noticed the tiredness in Lin Jing’s eyes and didn’t ask further.

This matter couldn’t have been accomplished overnight.

The loose ends were probably mostly tied up. Trying to get to the bottom of it, especially with the distance to Planet A, was really not easy.

Lin Jing hadn’t slept for two or three days straight.

After washing up, he thought he’d be exhausted but seeing Ji Anli lying there, staring at the ceiling lost in thought, he found himself wide awake.

Ji Anli wasn’t daydreaming. he was reading a book.

He was so engrossed in the book while Lin Jing moved so quietly. It wasn’t until Lin Jing lifted the thin blanket and lay down beside him that Ji Anli turned his head to look.

Lin Jing was wearing a plain-colored pajama set, similar in color to his original fur when he transformed back from a snow wolf.

It had a subtle pattern and it looked like it would feel cool to the touch with a great texture.

Ji Anli’s intense gaze made Lin Jing unsure whether to close his eyes as he lay down.

He couldn’t help but think about the thank-you gift he had mentioned earlier.

He wanted to ask Ji Anli if he had decided what he wanted as the old duke had specifically asked when he left the castle.

But lying there in this situation, if he asked now, it would seem like he was reminding Ji Anli about having little wolf pups.

Ji Anli cleared his throat softly and took the initiative to speak, “Is there nothing you want to tell me?”

Lin Jing lowered his eyes as if making a decision and suddenly propped himself up, leaning on his side with his arm partially over Ji Anli.

He looked down at Ji Anli who was bewildered by his actions and asked, “Have you really made up your mind?”

Ji Anli was indeed confused, “??” Made up his mind about what?

Seeing Ji Anli’s silence, Lin Jing assumed it was a tacit agreement.

His deep eyes became even more profound as he spoke in a voice that was inexplicably soft and ambiguous, “If you’ve really made up your mind, then we should take it slow.

First, you need to be sure you don’t mind my touch… and closeness.”

As he spoke, he leaned in closer. So close that Ji Anli could almost feel Lin Jing’s restrained breath brushing against his face.

It made Ji Anli’s previously clear mind a bit dizzy, not to mention the faint floral scent that suddenly filled the air around them, so subtle that neither of them, caught up in their tension, noticed it.

Ji Anli who had been able to calmly look at Lin Jing above him, suddenly felt a bit hot and his heart raced.

Lin Jing’s words made him forget what he was going to say and he instinctively replied, “How… close…”

His tongue got tied. Before he could finish the last word, he felt the gaze from above grow even deeper.

Lin Jing seemed surprised by his straightforwardness but eventually said softly, “I’ll teach you.”

Ji Anli’s head spun even more.

Teach?

Teach what?

Could it be what he thought it meant?

Was Lin Jing really going to teach him how to kiss him?

What was he thinking

But for some reason, maybe it was the ambiguous atmosphere under the dim light that made Ji Anli feel a bit dizzy and distracted.

He didn’t refuse, his eyes bright and even a little expectant.

Earlier, this person said having little wolf cubs wasn’t allowed and now he was about to teach him how to kiss.

How would he teach?

Should he take the opportunity to complete some tasks or something?

Otherwise, wouldn’t it be a waste of touch points for such close contact for the first time?

As this thought crossed his mind, Ji Anli imagined a lot in an instant.

He saw Lin Jing really leaning down towards him, and then… gave him a light peck on the forehead.

Ji Anli: “??”

Ji Anli: “…………”

Ji Anli blinked once, then again, thinking this might just be an appetizer. The other person was giving him time to adapt.

But after waiting a full three seconds, Lin Jing made no further moves and even backed away a bit.

Only then did Ji Anli murmur, “That’s it?”

Lin Jing, whose face was somewhat obscured by the overhead light, replied in a slightly hoarse voice, “…Yeah. Let’s take it slow.”

Ji Anli fell silent.

At this rate, when would he ever have little cubs?

After thinking it over, he calmly said, “You’re doing it wrong.”

This time, it was Lin Jing’s turn to be stunned, “What?”

Ji Anli smiled at him, took a light sniff of the surroundings and then said, “You’re teaching it wrong. Let me teach you instead.”

With that, he unexpectedly raised his arm, wrapped it around Lin Jing’s neck, and pulled him down.

Lin Jing only felt a coolness on his lips.

The other person paused for two seconds before pulling away, seemingly amused by his completely frozen expression.

Then he pressed down again, this time kissing more firmly.

Before Lin Jing could react, Ji Anli, in a very good mood suddenly said, “You’re heating up.”

Lin Jing’s mind went blank for a moment, “W-what?”

Ji Anli gave him a push, watching as Lin Jing backed away a bit and then said, “You’re heating up, didn’t you notice?”

Fortunately, he caught the scent of their shared pheromones, faint but definitely there.

“I didn’t expect your rut period to be like this, huh?” He was almost triggered by the other’s pheromones himself.

Lin Jing finally realized what was happening and almost instantly jumped back, his feet hitting the floor as he sniffed carefully.

He did indeed catch a faint floral scent.

Afraid he might lose control and harm Ji Anli, he hurriedly said, “Sorry, I’ll go take an inhibitor. I’ll sleep downstairs tonight. You get some rest.”

Without giving Ji Anli a chance to respond, he quickly left as if chased by a dog

The floral scent in the room suddenly became fainter and Ji Anli’s rationality which had been affected, returned.

Thinking about Lin Jing’s flustered escape just now, Ji Anli subconsciously touched his lips, feeling quite pleased.

It seemed that Lin Jing’s slow approach was working well.

At least it proved that he didn’t mind the other’s touch and even found it quite nice.

He had been worried about the upcoming touch points.

The old duke still needed two pills. Lin Jing’s poison needed to be dealt with quickly. Both required a lot of touch points.

And then there was the plot.

Although Lin Jing had survived the death calamity in the book, there was no guarantee that the people behind the scenes wouldn’t make a move since Lin Jing was unharmed.

So he also needed touch points to exchange for plot developments.

But most of the touch point tasks given by the system were partner touches.

Now that Lin Jing had thought of such a good method, he could use his hidden illness to make Lin Jing transform into his second form and earn a wave of touch points.

Then, by getting familiar with contact to prepare for having little wolf pups in the future, he could do some human form partner tasks and earn another wave of touch points.

Back and forth, it was like shearing the sheep twice.

By the time Lin Jing’s poison was cured, maybe their relationship would be developed enough to prepare for having little wolf pups.

When the little pups were really born, he could even bind offspring points…

Oh my god, could he be a genius?

What was it he wanted to say to Lin Jing at first?

Oh right, he initially just wanted to ask Lin Jing if he usually checked if his hidden illness had flared up and if he needed to transform into his second form.

But instead…

Lin Jing wanted to give him a live demonstration, although his teaching wasn’t as good.

Unlike Ji Anli’s current excitement and eagerness, Lin Jing who was in the downstair bathroom was a bit dazed.

He looked at the inhibitor in his hand, completely unable to react.

He felt uneasy when Ji Anli said he was entering a rut period. He was afraid that if he lost control, he might hurt Ji Anli so he quickly left the room.

He didn’t doubt Ji Anli’s words because there was indeed a faint scent of pheromones emanating from him.

But after finding the inhibitor, he realized that this wasn’t the time of the month when he usually had episodes.

The inhibitor in contact with the pheromone proved that it didn’t reach the concentration of a rut period.

But he was indeed unconsciously emitting pheromones…

If it wasn’t a rut period then there was another possibility. It was his subconscious emotions, an instinct rather than a special period.
