Chapter 22 : Binding

Accidentally Choosing the Strongest Alpha in the Galaxy on a Blind Date

Ji Anli stared at the transparent task window in front of him and the only thought that flashed through his mind was,

Is this system serious?

Isn’t it supposed to be the Benevolent Healer System?

What kind of serious system has such a bizarre array of touch tasks?

The task list was divided into three categories.

The first was daily tasks, which were the same every day and came with detailed descriptions.

The second was partner touch tasks, which changed daily and refreshed at midnight.

The third was random blind box tasks, which refreshed instantly with the push of a button, but the previous tasks would disappear.

The daily tasks were the easiest to complete so they offered the least touch points but over time, they could still add up to a significant amount.

The second type, partner tasks, were more intimate, so they offered more touch points.

The third type was random, with tasks that could either offer high or low touch points…

But even the very ordinary first type of task made Ji Anli’s ears burn.

What kind of daily tasks were these?

They were so embarrassing!

Who could say them out loud?

Ji Anli’s eyes widened as he looked at the first column of daily tasks.

The first one was [Good Morning Kiss] followed by a line of small text clearly stating: Give your still-sleeping partner a kiss to start a beautiful new day. (Touch points X1)

The second was [Expression of Love] boldly say a sweet nothing to your partner. (Touch points X2)

Ji Anli continued reading through the tasks, becoming numb as he went, especially with all the [Initiate a Kiss], [Good Night Kiss], [Loving Hug] and so on.

He was starting to forget what the word ‘kiss’ even meant.

What kind of proper system sets up daily tasks like this?

Is this serious?

Why not just call it a hundred ways to spice up your relationship

The first type of daily task already made Ji Anli’s face heat up. The second type, the partner touch task, just the task label alone was enough to make someone blush.

He couldn’t help but ask the system in his mind, “How exactly am I supposed to do this task?”

The system’s voice quickly responded, “How to do it? Just follow the requirements one by one. And what’s so improper about it? Which couple acts all proper in front of their lover? The host should put himself in a normal couple’s state of being lovey-dovey with his partner and then see if it isn’t perfect?”

Ji Anli was silent.

He didn’t know about perfect but the problem was… he and Lin Jing were just in a marriage of convenience, not that kind of couple.

Besides, which of these tasks was suitable for him to do with Lin Jing?

If he were to say something romantic the morning after their wedding night, followed by a good morning kiss, wouldn’t his newly appointed partner immediately pack up and leave?

He’d definitely think he was deceived that Ji Anli wasn’t there to detoxify him but was simply infatuated with Lin Jing himself.

Ji Anli said, “And why is the touch value for these daily tasks so low? A good morning kiss is so difficult, yet it’s only worth 1 touch value?”

Even if he completed all these daily tasks, they wouldn’t add up to a hundred, right?

System, “Why don’t you multiply the level one rare partner touch value by 10 and see?”

Ji Anli did the math, and his mood improved quite a bit.

Looking at these daily tasks again, they seemed like a series of healing values within reach.

After all, multiplied by 10, it was several hundred.

He had used a lot of healing power to suppress Ander’s mental breakdown and save his life, which only gave him ten healing values.

Ji Anli swallowed, internally struggling and hesitating.

In the end, he decided to just ignore it for now.

Anyway, he had to wait until the evening to do these tasks.

If he kept looking, Lin Jing might start to feel something was off.

Lin Jing did notice something was off with Ji Anli at this moment.

After leaving the registration office, he saw Ji Anli pulled up his wristband to look at his identity ID, especially the part where it was bound to his partner and just stood there without moving.

At first, he thought Ji Anli was just curious and wanted to take a look but he kept looking for a long time.

Lin Jing noticed that although Ji Anli’s expression didn’t change much, the aura around him was clearly fluctuating.

His own emotions were affected by these changes.

Ji Anli didn’t look happy at all.

Was there something wrong with this new identity?

Just as this thought crossed his mind, he saw Ji Anli’s previously subtly strange expression suddenly light up, his eyes sparkling under the sunlight, so dazzling that Lin Jing couldn’t bear to look away.

Ji Anli looked up, his eyes extremely bright as he stared at Lin Jing as if he had encountered something that made him very happy.

“You…”

Lin Jing asked in confusion but once he opened his mouth, he didn’t know what to say.

Ji Anli, however, was a step ahead and grabbed his hand.

“I didn’t expect the registration to go so smoothly. We’re really lucky.”

In reality, he was urging the system in his mind, “Is it done yet? Is the binding complete? Do I really have to hold his hand? If you don’t hurry up, I won’t be able to keep this up.”

He was really afraid that if he didn’t find an excuse, Lin Jing would avoid him before he even got to shake his hand.

How would he save face then?

Fortunately, Lin Jing, whether he was genuinely convinced by his words or just thought shaking hands wasn’t a big deal, seriously considered what he said and replied, “…It’s pretty good.”

As Ji Anli heard the “binding successful” notification in his mind, he let go of Lin Jing’s hand, feeling even better.

Not only did he gain more touch points, but he also increased his partner points.

In the evening, he needed to figure out how many tasks he could complete, preferably without arousing Lin Jing’s suspicion.

Although they were all daily partner tasks, there was always a way.

If not… he’d just have to keep bluffing.

After getting their marriage certificate, Ji Anli and Lin Jing went to eat then shopped for furniture and selected a butler robot.

By the time everything was delivered to their home, it was already evening.

Ji Anli and Lin Jing went their separate ways to pack their things.

They hadn’t planned on getting the certificate so soon, so for now, one was staying in a hotel and the other in a villa on the outskirts.

But tonight was their wedding night.

During dinner, Ji Anli casually brought it up, “General Lin, we’re officially registered as a couple now and our marriage has been announced on StarNet. Since we registered today, many people will soon know we’ve got the certificate.

If we continue living separately, people might think we’re not getting along which isn’t good in the long run, right? So, moving into the marital home tonight shouldn’t be a problem, right?”

Lin Jing wasn’t used to being around unfamiliar people but Ji Anli was clearly different.

Not to mention, he was making a sacrifice to cover up his poisoning, so naturally, he had no objections.

“Alright, I’ll follow your lead.”

With that, they both agreed and went to pack their things.

It was easier for Ji Anli since he hadn’t brought much from the Ji family, just a few changes of clothes.

A suitcase was enough to pack everything, except he needed to inform Xie Lie and the others to move to the nearby villa with him.

Xie Lie and his partner, who had been speculating all day, finally got confirmation and breathed a sigh of relief.

Mr. Ji and General Lin had indeed gone to get their marriage certificate.

Although it was fast, it was their business as a couple, and as bodyguards, it wasn’t their place to comment.

After reporting to their superiors, they quickly followed to the nearby villa area.

When Ji Anli and the others arrived, Lin Jing was already there.

Manfred and Ander had wanted to come over to congratulate them but one was still recovering from injuries and the other from illness.

To avoid any mishaps on the way, they simply asked Lin Jing to convey their congratulations

Ji Anli first went to the villa next door to hand over the keys and the items he had prepared to the butler robot.

Only then did he return, and as he opened the door, he saw Lin Jing, who had arrived earlier, had already taken off his suit jacket.

His shirt sleeves were rolled up to his elbows as he was assembling the butler robot.

Hearing the noise, Lin Jing turned around and pointed at the parts in his hand.

“Go check out which room you like first. I’ll be done here soon.”

Ji Anli struggled to tear his gaze away from Lin Jing’s strong arms.

Although he had touched Lin Jing’s humanoid wrist and his second form, he had never seen this side of Lin Jing before.

It made him truly realize the difference between an Alpha and Omega.

Just from their physique alone, they were completely different.

He made a sound of acknowledgment, shifted his gaze and then directly voiced his thoughts, “I might like a room that you don’t. I’ll wait for you to finish assembling, and we can choose together.”

Lin Jing paused, a bit stunned, as he was caught off guard.

Was it what he thought it meant?

But they weren’t really partners, so did they have to… stay together?

He wanted to ask but with Ji Anli saying it like that, would asking, make it seem like he didn’t want to share a room with him?

Moreover, Ji Anli spoke so openly that Lin Jing felt it must be his own issue.

He hadn’t seen how other partners interacted, let alone how partners in a purely arranged marriage without feelings like theirs would interact.

Hearing Ji Anli say this, he thought it might be normal.

Even if it wasn’t, it could be preparation for when the heat period got out of control and companionship was needed.

Thinking of this, Lin Jing agreed, “Alright, wait for me a bit.”

Ji Anli made a sound of acknowledgment, not daring to say much more.

He was really worried Lin Jing would ask more questions.

He had already thought of excuses to fool Lin Jing but thinking of them was one thing, actually deceiving someone was something he wasn’t too willing to do.

Lin Jing didn’t ask, which made him feel more at ease.

He simply walked over, squatted across from Lin Jing, and watched as he quickly assembled the complex machinery.

Lin Jing didn’t look up but he could see the person in front of him from the corner of his eye.

He almost put a part in the wrong place but quickly calmed down.

Once the robot was activated and registered their irises, it began cleaning downstairs on its own.

Ji Anli and Lin Jing went upstairs.

Each room was similarly furnished. They finally chose the master bedroom which was the largest with a big floor-to-ceiling window and a large bathroom.

Ji Anli placed the clothes he brought into the walk-in closet, leaving half of it specifically for Lin Jing.

When Lin Jing saw this, there was an unconscious hint of a smile in his eyes that he didn’t even notice himself.

As he neatly arranged his things and looked at their completely different clothes, the heart that had been hanging all day finally settled.

He raised his hand, wanting to touch the unfamiliar clothes but as he got closer, he suddenly withdrew his fingers, abruptly realizing that his impulsive action was inappropriate.

He realized he was getting a bit greedy.

From the initial favoritism from Ji Anli, Lin Jing now wanted to truly integrate into the other’s life…

Meanwhile, Ji Anli was in the bathroom, brushing his teeth while looking at himself in the mirror.

He asked the system to open the task panel.

It was already dark, and many tasks would refresh at midnight, especially the second type of partner touch tasks, which were different every day.

If the tasks refreshed later, he had a feeling that the touch points would just slip away from his grasp.

So tonight, he had to make a good start and get some points first.

He focused on the partner touch task in the middle.

The first one was [neck-to-neck contact] worth 5 touch points.

Ji Anli’s gaze moved down to the next few tasks, [waist-hugging], [ear-to-ear contact], [hand-to-foot contact]…

The more he looked, the more he felt that if he really did these things to Lin Jing, he’d definitely be seen as a pervert.

But as he kept looking, Ji Anli suddenly squinted his eyes in realization.

Wait a minute, these partner touch tasks were indeed about partner interactions but they only had a name and a reward, unlike daily tasks that didn’t have detailed instructions on how to do them.

Doing this to Lin Jing was definitely not normal.

But if he switched to the second form… would that be perverted?

No, that would be a normal symptom.
