Chapter 21 : Getting the Certificate

Accidentally Choosing the Strongest Alpha in the Galaxy on a Blind Date

Lin Jing had been a bit distracted since he said those words. He was unsure of what Ji Anli thought of him now that he was either poisoned or injured.

Initially, he didn’t want to say anything for fear of scaring him but now he wondered if he should have been more open.

Especially when he saw Ji Anli pacing with his head down. His heart inexplicably hung in suspense.

Soon, Ji Anli stopped, and Lin Jing instinctively looked at him, waiting for his verdict, only to be stunned the next moment.

Did he hear wrong?

Ji Anli did say they should get the marriage certificate, right?

But how did the conversation jump from his wound not healing due to poison to getting a marriage certificate?

Was there any connection between the two?

Why the sudden rush to get married?

Ji Anli thought Lin Jing hadn’t heard him clearly, so he repeated, “Let’s register for marriage tomorrow. Although it’s a bit rushed, look, eight days is within ten days, and three days is also within ten days. There’s no difference, right?”

For a moment, Lin Jing actually found his reasoning quite convincing.

Maybe it was the seriousness in Ji Anli’s eyes that made it seem right.

He murmured in a daze, “Is it…?”

By the time Lin Jing returned to the suburban villa, it was already midnight.

His mind was still in a fog. Even when he reached the living room, he didn’t turn on the lights.

He sat on the sofa for a long time, unable to figure out how he had agreed to it

He felt so unreal all the way back, sitting in the shadowy corner of the sofa, just staring at a spot ahead.

The moonlight streamed in through the floor-to-ceiling window, casting mottled shadows of trees and overlapping reflections of furniture, making it hard to notice the figure nestled there.

In the middle of the night, Manfred, feeling thirsty, hobbled from the room at the end of the first floor to the water dispenser by the window.

He filled a large cup, holding a crutch under one arm for support, and with the other hand, he lifted the bandage on his face to take a big gulp.

The cold water slid down his parched throat, refreshing him completely.

He couldn’t help but take another big sip.

As he glanced around casually, he suddenly noticed a figure sitting quietly there, startling him so much that he spat out the water.

The next moment, he was pounding his chest, coughing, “You, you, you…”

Manfred was about to ask, ‘Who are you?’ but stopped mid-sentence.

Under the moonlight, he took a closer look.

How could it look so much like the boss?

He quickly turned on the light to confirm it was indeed the boss. He was at a loss, “General, what are you doing sitting here in the middle of the night?”

Doesn’t he know… that scaring people can cause accidents?

Manfred snapped back to reality, sensing something was off.

For the General to be acting so strangely, it was likely a matter of heartbreak.

Could it be that Mr. Ji had regrets and dumped the General?

Is that why the General was here alone, nursing a broken heart?

The more Manfred thought about it, the more it made sense.

He put down his water, perked up, and walked over to the single sofa, earnestly comforting, “General, you have to look on the bright side. Even if Mr. Ji has second thoughts, it’s understandable.

After all, we’re too rough, not the type to be tender and considerate. It’s reasonable to be disliked.”

Lin Jing glanced at Manfred, his eyes deep and brows furrowed with a look that said, ‘What nonsense are you talking about?’.

“You’re overthinking it.”

Manfred dragged out his words, “General, don’t be shy. What’s there to be embarrassed about? If you’re not nursing a broken heart, why are you sitting here in the middle of the night?”

Lin Jing replied, “I’m getting married tomorrow and I’m considering what to wear.”

Manfred opened his mouth to say, “How is that possible?”

He might be sick but his mind wasn’t gone.

If he remembered correctly, wasn’t it supposed to be in seven days?

Not even half the time had passed, right?

But seeing the General’s serious expression, Manfred fell silent for a moment, then let out a sharp scream, “Ahhh!”

Ander, woken up by the noise, rushed out from his room on the second floor, leaning over the railing to shout down, “Manfred, you better have a good reason or you’re dead!”

Not sleeping in the middle of the night, are you trying to die?

Manfred, leaning on his crutch, was unsure if he was excited or shocked, “Don’t sleep, something big is happening. The General is getting married tomorrow, who can sleep now?”

Ander was about to turn around and head back after shouting but his footsteps halted when he heard the absurd words.

His eyes, which were already squinting, suddenly snapped open, What the hell!!

Compared to the lively and brightly lit villa in the suburbs for the rest of the night, Ji Anli returned to the hotel and fell asleep immediately.

After suggesting they get the marriage certificate, he was worried that Lin Jing would think it was too soon and disagree.

At the time, he had to make up a story to get Lin Jing to agree to the eight-day timeline.

Who would have thought Lin Jing would actually agree after hearing his twisted logic?

Perhaps Lin Jing’s agreement put him at ease, as Ji Anli had a rare good night’s sleep, dreamless night.

Ji Anli woke up at seven the next day.

After washing up, he thought for a moment and chose a simple white shirt and black pants.

He initially wanted to dress formally but then felt that being too formal might make General Lin think his intentions for marrying so quickly were impure.

So he opted for something suitable for photos but not overly formal.

However, when he stepped out and saw the three people standing neatly outside, he was stunned, especially when his gaze fell on one of them.

He forgot to react, unable to hide the amazement in his eyes.

Xie Lie’s two guards were still in their usual attire, their uniforms wrapped tightly as he had grown accustomed to seeing over the past few days.

But Lin Jing’s appearance right at his door was quite unexpected.

It was the first time he had seen Lin Jing in a suit, especially such a proper one.

His black hair was slicked back, revealing his striking features and high nose bridge.

The sharpness in his brows and eyes had softened, balancing out his usual aura of hostility and pressure, giving him a mature, gentle, and elegant look.

Ji Anli had only seen Lin Jing in two types of clothing: formal military attire and his second form’s original skin.

But this version of Lin Jing was different.

For some reason, he couldn’t help but imagine Lin Jing’s second form also dressed in a black suit, white shirt, and tie.

Ji Anli couldn’t help but swallow.

Damn, his thoughts were wandering and he couldn’t pull them back.

Lin Jing had been quite calm initially.

He hadn’t slept all night, worried about whether his outfit for getting the marriage certificate today was appropriate.

But Manfred and Ander were even more nervous than he was, urgently sending various clothes for him to try.

In the end, just before leaving, they decided on the suit.

He hadn’t felt anything when people stared at him on the way. But being stared at by Ji Anli made him inexplicably uneasy.

Xie Lie and the other guard kept their eyes straight ahead but they were quite shocked inside, especially when they dutifully took over the morning shift and saw General Lin, in a sharp suit, standing at the door, a stark contrast to his usual image.

The impact was undeniably strong

Xie Lie and the others thought, no wonder Mr. Ji chose General Lin.

Look at this, it’s just a date and it’s already so grand and formal.

It turns out that even a steel straight man like General Lin who’s at the top of the combat power hierarchy can be gentle when he meets someone he loves.

Ji Anli finally pulled his thoughts back, coughed lightly, and gave a compliment, “You look… very nice.”

Lin Jing felt even more uncomfortable.

He also thought Ji Anli looked great today but he couldn’t say anything too straightforward. So he simply changed the subject, “Shall we head out now?”

Ji Anli agreed. After closing the door, he greeted Xie Lie and the others, telling them they didn’t need to follow today.

Just as Lin Jing was about to leave, he suddenly remembered something, took out a few candies and handed them over.

Xie Lie and the others took them in a daze and Lin Jing followed Ji Anli out with big strides.

Xie Lie and the others raised their hands belatedly, looking at the candies in their palms.

Only then did they notice that each one had the word ‘happiness’ written on it.

Their eyes widened with a guess—could these be wedding candies?

Could it be that Mr. Ji and the others were going to register for marriage?

But, but it’s only the third day, right?

When Ji Anli and Lin Jing arrived at the registration office, an hour had passed. It was still a little while before eight-thirty.

Since today wasn’t a special day, there weren’t many people there to register and they quickly got their number.

The two of them followed the process and went to take photos first.

These photos would be uploaded to the system for registration records.

When they pull up one party’s ID, it would also display the partner’s information including this wedding photo of the two of them.

The photographer didn’t expect to encounter such a good-looking couple so early in the morning.

His eyes lit up and he kept telling them to get closer, yes, closer…

Finally, they chose the photo where they were closest, capturing the moment with a click.

The photographer couldn’t stop smiling as he enlarged it on the projection for the couple to see, “How is it?”

Ji Anli didn’t feel anything while taking the photo but at this moment, looking at the picture where their heads were almost touching, he felt a bit dazed.

Especially seeing his own eyes curved with a smile that made his pupils shine brightly and Lin Jing beside him with a slight upward curve at the corners of his mouth, his eyes also captured with a hint of a smile, making his whole demeanor soften.

It was as if they truly were a deeply in love couple.

Ji Anli stared blankly at the photo.

Last night, when he mentioned getting the certificate, his initial thought was to register Lin Jing’s identity as soon as possible to complete the touch task and get the medicine to stop the bleeding.

He registered with a purpose so he didn’t feel any different from before.

But at this moment, he realized for the first time… something seemed genuinely different.

Lin Jing, with similar thoughts, looked at the photo of himself, never having thought he had such a tender side.

He then looked at the other face and his heart felt soft and light at that moment, as if soaking in comfortable warm water, indulgent and relaxed, gradually immersing himself, unable to extricate.

Half an hour later, Ji Anli and Lin Jing walked out of the registration office.

He stood at the entrance, not leaving immediately but instead staring intently at the refresh of the identity data on his wristband ID, which would update ten minutes after registering the marriage

He kept refreshing until a bracket appeared next to the ID, showing an ID inside: Partner Lin Jing.

At the same time, a voice echoed in his mind, “Congratulations to the host for acquiring a level one rare partner.

The touch task is now officially activated and the touch points you earn from completing tasks will be multiplied by ten.

Would the host like to immediately bind with Partner Lin Jing?”

Ji Anli was curious about something else, “Let me see what touch tasks there are first.”

Almost as soon as he spoke, a transparent window appeared in a place only he could see, displaying a menu of tasks.

The moment he saw the descriptions, Ji Anli’s eyes widened in disbelief.
