Accidentally Choosing the Strongest Alpha in the Galaxy on a Blind Date
Ji Anli didn’t accept all of Lin Jing’s transferred assets.
He could sense that Lin Jing didn’t want him to suffer any losses but he couldn’t just let Lin Jing hand over everything.
Although he was detoxifying Lin Jing, the herbs needed for the antidote were actually earned by Lin Jing himself.
In reality, apart from carrying out tasks he enjoyed, he hadn’t contributed much.
On the contrary, it was Lin Jing, the soon-to-be-bound partner who was truly being taken advantage of.
He couldn’t just take advantage of someone while expecting them to pay him as well.
That would be bizarre.
With a complicated feeling, Ji Anli explained to the puzzled Lin Jing why he refused.
“General Lin, you don’t need to feel like you owe me anything. After all, you’ve contributed too. In the future, my hidden ailments… will need your help.”
He just hoped that after binding, the system’s touch tasks wouldn’t be too unbearable.
He was genuinely worried about wearing out the only person in front of him.
If that happened, he would feel really guilty.
In the end, Lin Jing temporarily took back all his assets due to Ji Anli’s firm refusal.
The small villa had just been transferred, and many things hadn’t been set up yet.
Lin Jing originally wanted to give Ji Anli the money he could spare to buy whatever he liked.
Given the situation, he could only ask Ji Anli’s opinion over the next few days before making purchases.
Lin Jing took Ji Anli on a tour, gave him the keys and then sent him back to the hotel.
Since they still needed to buy things, they would have to continue staying at the hotel for the next couple of days
Ji Anli was feeling conflicted on the way, wondering if he should buy something for Lin Jing as a return gift.
Otherwise, why did his conscience feel a bit guilty?
When they arrived outside the hotel and saw the haggard, disheveled, and lonely figure waiting not far away, Ji Anli’s brows furrowed.
Why was this bastard here again?
When Wen Zhen saw the two of them appearing together so late, it felt like a needle had pierced his heart. The pain making it hard for him to breathe.
His eyes were bloodshot and even though only two days had passed, it felt like a lifetime to him.
Ji Anli and Lin Jing’s warnings were still ringing in his ears, but how could he be willing to give up?
In just a few days, he had fallen from heaven to hell.
Not to mention, everything today was just as Ji Anli had previously said.
Father Wen had temporarily lost his authority in the Wen family and to show their determination to the higher-ups to stop targeting Wen’s projects, Father Wen had relocated them away from the Wen family.
They said it was temporary but Wen Zhen had a bad feeling about it.
Father Wen had been accustomed to smooth sailing over the years and since he was the heir appointed by the old man from a young age, the rest of the Wen family had never shown any abnormality in front of him.
So Father Wen really thought the situation was temporary.
But after this crisis, could they really return to the Wen family?
Even if they returned, could his father still be the head of the family?
Wen Zhen hadn’t had a drop of water all day and when he spoke, his voice was hoarse beyond recognition.
Gone was his previous attempt to suppress Lin Jing by mentioning genetic defects.
Now, with eyes full of sorrow, he looked at the other man, “General Lin, I’m begging you. Please give Anli back to me, I really can’t live without him…”
Lin Jing frowned, his expression darkening, the coldness on his face emanating through his aura, making Wen Zhen shiver.
But he knew this was his only chance.
If he couldn’t seize it this time, there would truly be no possibility between him and Anli.
Before Lin Jing could speak, Wen Zhen clutched his head in agony, “Anli, please stop torturing me, okay? I know I was wrong. I was just trying to make the best choice from my position, thinking I could secure the heir’s position first and then be with you.
The engagement cancellation was supposed to be a strategic retreat, but why did it turn out like this? Anli, we’ve had feelings for each other for over a decade. I thought I could have it all, but if I really have to lose you to gain the heir’s position, I’m willing to give it up and not be the heir of the Wen family.
If you don’t like how my parents treated you before and canceled the engagement, I can even leave the Wen family and take you away. Please, come back to me, okay?”
Ji Anli just watched him quietly, waiting for him to almost kneel and beg to make the scene as dramatic as possible.
Then, with a swift kick to his knee, Wen Zhen’s leg hit the ground with a thud, his face twisting in pain.
Wen Zhen hadn’t expected that even after lowering himself so much, Ji Anli wasn’t moved and even kicked him.
This scene reminded him of General Lin’s previous kick.
Except one was kicked from behind, and the other from the front.
Wen Zhen looked up in disbelief, “An Li… do you really hate me that much? I don’t get it, we were doing so well not long ago…”
Ji Anli looked down at Wen Zhen’s bewildered eyes with indifference.
He knew the other truly didn’t understand how he could change his heart so quickly.
Wen Zhen thought that last time, using revenge and genetic defects couldn’t convince him.
He assumed Ji Anli was angry because Wen Zhen chose benefits over him back then.
So this time, he played his biggest card, even mentioning leaving the Wen family.
Ji Anli looked at Wen Zhen like this, knowing that the other would never understand in this lifetime that there could never be reconciliation between them, only a fight to the death.
Because between them, there were three lives.
One was Ji Anli’s.
In his past life, Wen Zhen indirectly caused his death by allowing Ji Chenhao to imprison him in the basement for the sake of benefits.
The other two were his parents.
At the time he escaped the basement but couldn’t live to see his parents.
Later, his parents wanted to avenge him but were killed by the Wen family and Uncle Ji.
Not long after, it was publicly announced that they died of illness.
Ji Anli just quietly looked at Wen Zhen.
When the latter thought he would soften, he spoke, “It seems the Wen family is really in trouble, huh? For you to pull out all the stops. What, are you and your parents about to be kicked out of the Wen family? If it weren’t for my kick just now, what were you planning? Kneel and cry your heart out?
Don’t, I’m afraid someone like you bowing to me would shorten my life. If someone accidentally took a picture, people might think I did something to you.
What, trying to morally blackmail me? Why not first dissolve the engagement you’re in? Who are you trying to disgust? Or are you thinking if I still don’t come back, at least you’ll have one option in hand?
Too bad, your beloved Uncle Ji isn’t doing well either, not much better than your Wen family.”
The mocking tone completely exposed Wen Zhen’s inherent baseness and selfishness, laying his little schemes bare for all to see.
Wen Zhen’s face changed.
His mind was buzzing as he looked at this Ji Anli, so different from the one he had known for over a decade.
Or… had he never truly understood him from the start?
Wen Zhen indeed had a backup plan.
He couldn’t really gamble everything on an unknown answer so he hadn’t dissolved the engagement with Ji Chenhao in advance.
He didn’t go with his parents to the Ji family today.
Knowing the Wen family’s plan, he orchestrated this move and had his confidants take photos around them.
If it came to the last step, he would kneel to win Ji Anli back.
If Ji Anli remained heartless, he would release the photos to create an image of a lovesick man.
At least then, he could salvage his reputation, temporarily announce a break with his cold-hearted parents and once his reputation improved, return to the Wen family to take over everything that belonged to his father.
But he didn’t expect all his thoughts to be seen through by Ji Anli without any cover, even though not long ago, the other seemed so simple and easy to manipulate
Wen Zhen lowered his eyes.
Since this approach wasn’t working, he couldn’t let this trip be in vain.
Suddenly, his eyes reddened as he looked up.
“An Li, were you lying when you said you liked me before? Have you actually… changed your heart long ago? Is that why you hid the fact that you’re an SSS Healer and claimed you had a genetic anomaly, just to make the Wen family call off the engagement first?”
He said this deliberately to provoke Lin Jing.
Last time, this person had almost given him a splitting headache with his psychic power at the slightest disagreement.
Wouldn’t he act again this time?
Lin Jing’s face indeed looked unpleasant.
If Wen Zhen attacked him using the genetic defect, he could let it slide but to slander Ji Anli like this was intolerable.
However, before Lin Jing could make a move, Ji Anli held him back and then kicked out first.
Since Wen Zhen was still kneeling on one knee to keep up the act, Ji Anli simply lifted his leg and stomped on his shoulder, pressing him to the ground.
With a thud, his forehead hit the ground with a dull sound.
It would probably bruise or swell for at least ten days to half a month.
“Ji Anli!” Wen Zhen façade was completely broken.
He lifted his head, feeling both angry and heartbroken.
He truly liked him but at the same time, was it wrong to want power and to climb higher?
Why couldn’t he have both?
Ji Anli, however, waved his wristband.
“Playing this game with me, trying to get someone to film General Lin hitting you to gain sympathy?
Well, too bad. From the moment I saw you, I anticipated your move, so I started recording. Everything that just happened is recorded, including what you said.
How about you post it to gain sympathy, and then I’ll help you turn it around? Infamy is still fame, right? I don’t mind making you notorious across the galaxy overnight.”
Wen Zhen’s face completely changed, and he didn’t dare to say another word.
He just stared at Ji Anli with a pained expression, took a deep breath, supported himself on his leg and limped away quickly, disappearing into the darkness.
Only then did Ji Anli look away.
He turned back, about to say something to Lin Jing when his nose twitched, and he suddenly leaned closer to Lin Jing.
Lin Jing had been watching Ji Anli’s movements.
When Ji Anli held his arm earlier, he didn’t stop the close contact because he was worried Wen Zhen might make a move and he wanted to be ready to protect him if there was danger.
But he forgot one thing.
It wasn’t until Ji Anli suddenly leaned in that Lin Jing thought to back away but Ji Anli grabbed his arm, pulling him closer.
With a puzzled look, he asked, “You didn’t make a move just now, so why is your wound open? Are you hurt again?”
During the pre-marital checkup, hadn’t he just re-bandaged at the second hospital?
Logically, there shouldn’t be a smell of blood.
With Lin Jing’s skills, shouldn’t the wound have healed by now?
If he hadn’t been so close, he might not have even smelled it
Lin Jing lowered his eyes to meet Ji Anli’s gaze which was just inches away.
Whether it was the darkness of the night or something else, he ultimately didn’t want to lie to Ji Anli, “It’s not a tear… it’s because of the poison. The wound can’t be healed.”
He quickly added, “I’m in good health, so these minor injuries won’t be a big problem.”
Ji Anli was stunned.
He genuinely didn’t know such a situation existed.
He quickly asked the system and got a confirmed answer which left him feeling uneasy, “So, as long as the poison isn’t neutralized, your wound won’t heal?”
Lin Jing nodded.
Ji Anli released Lin Jing’s arm, took a deep breath and paced in a circle, asking the system, “Is there a cure for this?”
System, “Of course there is. If the wound can’t heal because of poison, it’s because the interstellar medicine isn’t effective.”
After confirming his suspicion, Ji Anli suddenly stopped in his tracks, turned around and stared directly at Lin Jing, then dropped a bombshell, “We can’t wait eight days. Let’s get our marriage certificate tomorrow.”
