Chapter 19 : Favoritism

Accidentally Choosing the Strongest Alpha in the Galaxy on a Blind Date

Lin Jing had known since he was a child that his father was biased.

Because Lin Yu was in poor health that was even more severe than his own genetic defect. His father never let him know the specifics, only instructing him to give in to Lin Yu.

But the events that followed made Lin Jing never expect his father could be biased to such an extent.

So he left the Lin family.

Later when Lin Yu poisoned him, he wasn’t even sure if his father knew about it or had long since tacitly allowed it to happen.

He had long since given up hope and was too lazy to seek an answer. He knew that for a child who wasn’t favored, no matter how many “whys” were asked, the answer would always be, “He’s already so sick, what’s wrong with you giving in to him?”

Lin Jing never expected that after living for over twenty years, the first time he felt the kind of unconditional favoritism was from a nominal fiancé he had only met three times.

Just a moment ago, he clearly felt that warmth and wanting to hold onto it. But because he knew his life was short, he accepted that the warmth would vanish as soon as the other person let go.

Lin Jing, worried that the poison would prevent his wound from healing and scare Ji Anli, didn’t let him accompany him for the bandaging.

Ji Anli didn’t insist, assuming Lin Jing was embarrassed to undress in front of someone he wasn’t familiar with and considerately waited outside

After Lin Jing finished rebandaging, Ji Anli was in a good mood.

It was much earlier than expected but because of the appearance of Father Lin and the others, they were in no mood for a date.

Fortunately, there was still time ahead.

Lin Jing sent Ji Anli back to the hotel, watching as Xie Lie and the two guards escorted him upstairs before leaving.

He thought he should hurry up and push Manfred.

They had already passed the premarital test so how could they not have found a marital house yet?

….
Ji Anli slept well that night, but on the other side, Uncle Ji’s family was in a gloomy state.

The villa was brightly lit and a group of people sat there looking at Ji Chenhao who was hanging his head and clenching his fists tightly.

In the past few days, Ji Chenhao had been thoroughly investigated in the interrogation room.

Because it involved the attempted murder of an SSS-level healer, even the interrogation process was repeatedly confirmed in detail.

If Ji Chenhao hadn’t reacted immediately upon hearing that Ji Anli was an SSS healer, he might have already been convicted and locked up by now.

When Ji Chenhao saw President An coming to find Ji Anli and heard that he had evolved into an SSS healer, he immediately realized the situation was bad.

He didn’t even pay attention to Wen Zhen who was full of regret beside him and hurriedly left the academy to return to the Ji family.

Fortunately, he acted quickly and guessed that Ji Anli’s drastic change in attitude earlier meant he wouldn’t miss the chance to complain to President An.

He immediately cleaned up any loose ends that could be used against him.

Even so, coming back after being locked up for so many days nearly took a layer of skin off him.

Ji Xingwang, thinking about how he had been hiding at home like a grandson, not daring to go out, was furious.

He pointed at Ji Chenhao, frustrated at his incompetence.

“Do you really have to be so hasty? Couldn’t you wait a bit longer? I had just kicked him out, and you couldn’t wait to make a move. If you had succeeded, it would have been fine, but you not only failed, you almost got yourself caught!

Now all my efforts are wasted. Do you know how much effort I put into making him appear as if he wasn’t a Ji family child to strip him of his inheritance rights? I know about cutting the grass and removing the roots, but this wasn’t the time to act.

I planned to wait a while, but you were so impatient and left such a big handle. At least you had some brains to use the butler’s star communication to contact those thugs.”

Otherwise, not only Ji Chenhao but even he, Anli’s uncle, would have been dragged down!

Those thugs were silenced by Ji Xingwang before they could be investigated. He spent a fortune to shut the butler’s mouth, making the butler take all the blame.

The butler claimed he acted on his own to stand up for Young Master Chenhao. It had nothing to do with Ji Chenhao.

The butler admitted this in front of the investigators and then took his own life, leaving no evidence.

In exchange, his family would enjoy wealth and prosperity in the future.

But after paying that fortune, Ji Xingwang had emptied his savings, leaving his pockets cleaner than his face.

How could he not be angry

Ji Chenhao listened silently to Ji Xingwang’s endless chatter, finally raising his eyes. His much thinner face showing resentment, “You blame me but if it weren’t for you hiding Ji Anli’s genetic report from me, if I had known earlier that he was an SSS Healer, how could I have let him leave?

If not for that, I would have found a way to transfer his healing power to myself and I would be the one in the spotlight as an SSS Healer!

You ruined everything and you still blame me?”

Ji Xingwang’s face turned livid with anger, “Who do you think I did it for? If it weren’t for your insistence on liking Wen Zhen, why would I have tried to ruin his marriage and drive him away early?”

“For me? You mean for the family power, right? Now that things are like this, saying more is useless.
Besides, you should think about whether this marriage is still suitable if the Wen family’s main branch falls.”

Ji Chenhao pointed out the crucial issue.

Ji Anli is an SSS-level Healer and as long as he holds this identity, both the Wen family and the Ji family’s main branch will be targeted by the empire’s upper echelons, gaining nothing good.

Blame it on what seemed like a sure thing that turn into such an unexpected situation.

Ji Anli didn’t end up completely useless due to genetic anomalies. Instead, he evolved into a rare Healer.

Fortunately, there’s still a chance to turn things around.

As long as Ji Anli is rendered useless again, the balance will eventually tip back in their favor.

Unfortunately, the Healer Alliance is protecting him like a fortress so there’s no opportunity for now.

They can only wait and plan for the long term.

The lights in the Ji family’s main house stayed on all night, with ambitious plans to keep a low profile and wait for the right moment.

But the next morning, the military arrived with a document issued from above, catching Uncle Ji’s family off guard just as they were getting excited and ready to act.

Ji Xingwang was stunned for a long time after hearing the contents of the notice before he asked in a daze, “Did you say the higher-ups claim our inheritance rights are unclear and want to seal the entire Ji family first?”

The soldier nodded, “We received a report from General Lin, suspecting that you fabricated false blood relations while Professor Ji and his wife were away to forcibly seize Mr. Ji Anli’s inheritance rights.

To ensure fairness, before Professor Ji and his wife return, a special order has been issued to temporarily seal the Ji family to prevent asset loss and all decisions requiring the family head’s approval are also put on hold.”

Ji Xingwang nearly lost his mind with anger, “Then just seal my second brother’s property and house. Why seal ours too?”

The soldier showed them the stamped document, “All of this belongs to the Ji family estate with the main and second branches only separated by a wall. To prevent any possible incidents, this special measure was taken.

Moreover, after our inquiries, we learned that Professor Ji and his wife will return in three months. Can you not wait for three months? In the meantime, we’ve allocated a house for you to live in for free during this period.”

Ji Xingwang trembled all over.

How could this be the same?

What do they mean by possible incidents?

They’re treating them like thieves!

This is revenge. Definitely General Lin’s deliberate revenge for Ji Anli!

He’s never heard of such a bizarre regulation in his life!

The most outrageous part is that the higher-ups actually agreed!

It’s infuriating.

Ji Chenhao clenched his fists on the side.

Why should Ji Anli, just because he’s a rare Healer, get to enjoy such treatment?

Just because his level is high?

At that moment, a strong urge to become stronger surged within him.

As long as he could become stronger, he didn’t care what it took, he was willing to sacrifice anything.

Uncle Ji gritted his teeth in anger, “Do we really need you to find us a place to live? Pack up, we’re going to the Wen family!”

After all, they were in-laws with the Wen family, staying for three months would be a piece of cake.

The official replied matter-of-factly, “Alright, then we’ll revoke this free residence.”

Uncle Ji didn’t care at all and waved his hand.

If they really stayed, wouldn’t that mean admitting they weren’t the legitimate heirs of the Ji family?

It’s not like they had nowhere to go.

But just as the main branch of the Ji family packed up and left, they ran into the Wen family.

Father and Mother Wen frowned, “Ji family, what are you…”

Ji Xingwang explained the previous events, emphasizing how Ji Anli deliberately retaliated against them.

Finally, he looked at the floating car the Wen family had brought and the luggage behind it, feeling a sense of foreboding, “In-laws, what’s going on?”

Father and Mother Wen exchanged a glance, internally cursing their bad luck.

The Wen family, considering the company’s future, feared that upcoming projects might fail and potentially bringing disaster to the family.

So they temporarily handed over the family management rights to avoid the storm.

Although it was just for show, they had to go through the motions so they pretended to leave the Wen family for a while.

They originally planned to take refuge at the Ji family but now Ji Xingwang’s family was in the same situation??

As both families stood there with awkward and grim expressions, Ji Anli received a star message from Lin Jing, asking him to come downstairs.

Ji Anli, puzzled, went downstairs with Xie Lie and the others, learning that Lin Jing wanted to take him somewhere.

Since Lin Jing was there, Xie Lie and the others didn’t follow.

After all, with General Lin’s skills, even if they brought a few more people, they wouldn’t stand a chance.

Plus, considering the engaged couple might be going out on a date, it wasn’t appropriate to tag along.

Ji Anli initially thought Lin Jing wanted to quickly go through the motions of getting to know each other but to his surprise, Lin Jing took him to a villa area not far from his academy and then led him into a small villa with a garden

Ji Anli stared blankly at Lin Jing, suddenly having a suspicion.

No way, right?

If he remembered correctly, it had only been two days since their engagement.

Lin Jing confirmed his thoughts and handed him the keys.

“Time was tight so I couldn’t find anything too good but we can’t keep staying in a hotel. I’ve checked the security here, and it’s decent. I rented the building next door for the guards so it’s convenient for Xie Lie and the others to ensure your safety.”

Ji Anli pointed at the house in front of him.

“So this is…”

Lin Jing replied frankly, “Our marital home. Even though it’s a marriage of convenience, rest assured that whatever other partners have, I’ll prepare for you too.”

He didn’t consider himself a particularly attentive or passionate partner, but he would fulfill the responsibilities of a partner.

At least while he was alive, he would take on the role properly.

Ji Anli was stunned and when Lin Jing transferred all the money he had earned over the years which wasn’t tied to the Lin family’s assets into his account, Ji Anli was completely numb.

Dude, do you know how dangerous this is?

Aren’t you afraid of being swindled out of your money, your body, and your heart?
