Chapter 8 : Another Encounter

Accidentally Choosing the Strongest Alpha in the Galaxy on a Blind Date

Xie Lie was currently on duty at the Department of Public Security, but he also needed to execute military orders immediately.

Besides, as long as the hovercar wasn’t opened, it was safer than him being there.

Time was running out.

Xie Lie grabbed the intercom and urgently reminded Ji Anli, “Mr. Ji, I need to take two people to the scene to investigate and stop it. Before the new security personnel arrive, please do not open the door.”

Ji Anli heard the determination in his voice and frowned, quickly making a decision, “I’ll drive this hovercar and go with you.”

Before Xie Lie could refuse, he swiftly analyzed, “Since you’re confident in leaving me here, this hovercar must be able to withstand the riot. If anything unexpected happens, I can open the door, and you can all take shelter inside.”

This special hovercar was essentially a protective shield

If it really can’t be stopped then there’s no need for unnecessary sacrifices.

Xie Lie clearly didn’t expect Ji Anli to choose to take the risk, and a complex emotion surged in his heart.

Time was running out and he looked back into the distance.

The alarm button had already turned from orange to red and Ji Anli’s voice rang in his ears again, “Besides, I’m a Healer. Maybe I’ll be needed to suppress the riot.”

Since he chose to join the Healer Alliance, this was also part of his responsibility.

Xie Lie suppressed the heat in his chest and immediately made a decision, “All guard teams, hold your positions. Except for these two coming with us, no one else is allowed to leave their posts.”

The other two guard teams were only S-level psychics.

Even if they went, they’d just be cannon fodder, so there was no need to bring them.

The two he pointed out were SS-level.

Xie Lie, along with the two others and Ji Anli in the hovercar, quickly headed to the scene.

Although it was close, the place was remote. The hovercar circled several times before stopping at the entrance of an alley.

The alley was too narrow for the hovercar to enter.

Fortunately, the strong psychic energy release and chaotic sounds of fighting ahead were clearly audible and visible.

Xie Lie instructed Ji Anli to stay in the hovercar while he and the other two quickly joined the battle.

In the dim alley, only the light from the psychic energy release barely illuminated the scene inside.

A dozen people in black surrounded a white figure, moving so fast that the flashes of blades left afterimages. The psychic attacks made those nearby feel like their heads were splitting.

“Roar!”

Suddenly, a beast’s roar echoed from deep within the alley, accompanied by a powerful outburst of psychic energy.

The nearest people in black were affected and slowed down.

At the same time, sharp claws slashed like lightning at the nearest few, leaving bloody claw marks.

Simultaneously, Ji Anli sat up straight at the sound, pressing his face against the cabin window.

He did this instinctively, genuinely curious if psychics with genetic defects really looked like half-human, half-beast.

As Ji Anli looked ahead, a white figure flickered in the distance, leaping out of the alley like lightning.

Its forelimbs stretched forward in mid-air, appearing in the light from the darkness in slow motion, revealing its true form.

The snow-white, blood-stained agile body leaped towards Ji Anli’s direction.

A massive figure, blood-red beast eyes, and sharp claws—everything about it screamed danger.

At this moment, perhaps due to the psychic riot causing it to lose control, its snow-white fur bristled all over.

It landed majestically on the ground in front. Ji Anli could even see the soft paw pads bounce as it landed, with the silky, snow-white fur trembling slightly

Ji Anli’s mind went blank at that moment.

He had thought about the genetic defect in beastmen genes that the system mentioned, but he never expected that the so-called second form would be a complete… beast transformation.

Ji Anli had never seen such a massive and majestic snow wolf.

His mind replayed the scene of the wolf leaping into the air and suddenly appearing from the darkness over and over again.

It took him a while to let out a soft breath, feeling an indescribable emotion in his chest.

What a majestic snow wolf, especially with that snow-white fur.

Is it really… fluffy?

It’s way too fluffy, isn’t it?

The snow wolf’s eyes were blood-red, seemingly retaining some rationality.

Seeing the three people blocking its path, it didn’t extend its claws but instead let out a roar, intimidating them into retreating.

It was on the verge of losing control. Once it completely went berserk, these three people wouldn’t stand a chance against a single swipe.

Because it still had some rationality, it hadn’t unleashed the full combat power of its second form.

The remaining dozen or so people behind saw this and wanted to step forward.

They had orders to stop the other party from attending the matchmaking event at all costs.

However, with outsiders involved, they hesitated.

Exchanging glances, they used a potion to trigger the other party’s psychic breakdown early.

In this state, there was no way the other party could attend the matchmaking event.

This was another way to complete their mission.

With that thought, one of them gestured, “Retreat!”

In an instant, they retreated into the depths of the alley, disappearing without a trace.

The snow wolf didn’t relax.

After landing, it saw the clearly wary guards ready to capture it at any moment.

Not wanting to get entangled with them, it forced itself to use the last of its psychic strength to transform back into human form.

Ji Anli sat in the hover car, high up, and had a clear view of the scene in front of Xie Lie and the others.

He had been focused on the unusually fluffy fur, but in the next moment, he saw the massive snow wolf change form at a speed visible to the naked eye.

He couldn’t even tell how the transformation happened.

Suddenly, a handsome man in a snow-white brocade robe appeared before him.

Long black hair cascaded down his back, the last button of his robe fastened.

His blood-red pupils made him seem to glow under the moonlight, making it impossible to look away.

Ji Anli knew he shouldn’t be thinking about this right now, but a thought popped into his head. Could his clothes be made from his snow-white fur?

Xie Lie’s initial vigilance and caution crumbled upon seeing the man’s face, and he spoke in surprise, “General Lin? How could it be you?”

General Lin had a genetic defect, despite his impressive military achievements and being invincible at a young age, a true star of the interstellar world who had never lost a battle, he could only become the highest-ranking General in the interstellar fleet

If it weren’t for this special gene, General Lin would definitely have more than just the title of General.

Although they knew General Lin had a genetic defect affecting his psychic power, no one had ever seen his second form.

No one expected that his second form would be… such a massive snow wolf.

In that moment, Xie Lie was ready to fight to the death.

After all, such a dangerous presence, just by its size, exuded the aura of a wolf king.

Lin Jing’s eyes still held a trace of ferocity, restraining the last bit of his sanity, he shouted, “Go!”

He was about to lose control.

He had considered that his brother might hate him, but he never expected that to achieve his goal, his brother would use the lives of everyone on the street as leverage.

Either he showed up, or his people would start random killings.

A single dose of genetic serum had pushed his already suppressed rampage to the brink of collapse.

He had no choice but to transform for a quick resolution.

He didn’t expect the military to get the news and arrive so quickly, “Move… I don’t want to hurt you.”

Xie Lie’s expression was complicated, but orders were orders.

He saluted, “General Lin, you’re currently in a rampage phase. We have orders to take you back to prevent greater danger. Moreover, in your condition, you need a high-level healer for immediate treatment…”

Lin Jing didn’t trust them.

Just as he was about to force his way out, a voice rang out, “If he’s not in a rampage phase, then there’s no problem, right?”

Everyone immediately looked in the direction of the voice.

Ji Anli had somehow opened the hatch and was standing at the door.

He repeated his question.

Xie Lie couldn’t see it, but Ji Anli had already sensed that this General Lin was on the verge of a rampage.

With the opponent’s recent display of power, if he truly lost control, there would be no stopping him.

The best solution was… to suppress it before he completely lost control.

Fortunately, he was an SSS-level healer and could handle it.

Lin Jing was particularly surprised to see Ji Anli.

He hadn’t expected him to be here.

He had planned to leave and find Ji Anli to help suppress him.

Ji Anli was the only one he trusted now.

Similarly, if he couldn’t find him or if Ji Anli had already entered the banquet hall, he would choose to leave the capital star.

After all, the authorities wouldn’t allow someone in a rampage phase to get close to him.

In that case, he would find a place to self-destruct before losing control, ensuring no innocent person would be harmed.

That was his mission and responsibility

After the fact, Xie Lie realized, of course, Mr. Ji is an SSS-level Healer.

If it were an ordinary dangerous person, he wouldn’t let Mr. Ji take the risk, but this was General Lin…

Ji Anli was already walking over and Lin Jing quickly made a decision, probably afraid of losing control and hurting Ji Anli, to sit cross-legged on the ground.

In case that he had to make a move, the two seconds it would take to stand up would be enough for Xie Lie and the others to separate and protect Ji Anli.

Ji Anli noticed Lin Jing’s actions and, after receiving a nod of confirmation from Xie Lie, finally relaxed.

As he approached, Xie Lie and the others stood aside, allowing only Lin Jing to extend a hand.

Ji Anli, separated by three people, used his healing power to suppress Lin Jing’s chaotic mental energy.

Fortunately, he had brought plenty of energy crystals with him just in case.

Absorbing them while healing, he slowly managed to suppress Lin Jing’s psychic chaos.

Xie Lie watched as the red alert on the alarm turned orange and then back to white, indicating that the crisis was really resolved. So easily?

It was the first time he clearly realized Mr. Ji’s importance.

Given time, the other would definitely stand at a height they could only look up to.

Lin Jing’s eyes returned to their normal color as he regained his senses.

He didn’t dare linger, thanked Ji Anli with a complicated expression, and then signaled to Xie Lie and the others before leaving immediately.

Since the crisis was resolved, Xie Lie and the others didn’t stop him this time.

As Ji Anli sat in the hover car continuing towards the banquet hall, he was still a bit dazed.

What would it have felt like if a furry paw had reached out to him during the treatment?

What a pity, he wouldn’t get to see it again so soon.
